I've read the numerous threads about this problem and am tempted to try the fix myself. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a borescope down into the bowels of hell prior to taking the intake manifold off? I'd like to verify if it's a chewed wire (as I suspect it is) before digging in with the disassembly.

For those who have done it themselves, would you do it again? Any suggestions or encouragement? I'm not super excited about this job.

If you take the air filter housing off you have quite a bit of room to poke around under the intake with a borescope.

Op, I've been in there and I believe that you can snake the camera from the very front of the engine along the water by-pass pipe. If need be, removing the air cleaner assy. considerably opens things up.

Just for fun, if it is warmer tomorrow, I might take my boroscope to try this...
