Just lowered the price on mine. Lots of local youngsters wanna buy them. Won't sell them to a newbie fear they may cut a turn too sharp and the worst case scenario may happen. Hoping for a more mature driver to answer one of my local ads or Craigslist ad, this way I know that, they know that they are getting a basic transport set of tires and wheels for this vehicle. In the meantime trying to look for a good set of Mickey Thompsons wheels and tires for my truck.:dancingbacon: This may take awhile but it will be worth it. Enjoy your new set of wheels......like my father use to say " drive it until the wheels fall off"

I was shocked at the ride of my 2015 on brand new dead straight concrete freeway decking with grooved pavement.

On the same exact deck, my 01 with OME lift and Michelin LTX AT2s rode like it was on welded rail.

The 2015 kept tracking left and right like the grooved decking was grabbing the tire tread or something, while the whole truck sort of slightly wallowed from left to right. With my head agaisnt the headrest, my head would roll slightly left and right. It was the weirdest fucking thing I have ever felt in brand new everything conditions, smooth, dry, WTF.

These will be replaced with more Michelins ASAP.

My AT20's on my new 2015 has the same tracking issue. They followed every bump or pot hole. Once I put my Michelin's on the thing drive straight as an arrow over every bump. Probably due to the crappy sidewalls on the Dunflops. Never seen such flimsy sidewalls on a tire before.

Honestly I think it's pathetic these were put on 4x4 models. I managed to get $300 for my AT20's on Craigslist with like 2,800 miles on them. Night and day difference. We had a late season snow "dusting" after I bought my Taco. The rear end had no traction and scared the crap out of me. Had to use 4x4 to get moving after pulling over for a firetruck. Literally the rear end was crawling sideways and the front was not moving. Almost walked into the ditch on the side of the road. I determined then and there to research replacement tires.

    Love my Michelin M/S 2's.

Ugh. These Dunlop's... they seem to be fine in ideal conditions - dry summer weather with clear smooth roads. But, add a bit of loose grit, dirt, rain, snow, ice or any other element and they go to shit. Had a hell of a time last winter on them. All over the place. HorraAwful. Got me some Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2's for this winter. Going back to the Dunlop's next spring may be hard to do... heh heh. Have 18,000km on them so far.

Replaced my AT20's a few weeks ago after they started breaking loose on wet roads with any type of acceleration. Glad to see them go. Got a set of 265/70/16 LTX AT2's....Ride is wayyy better, handling wayyy better, confidence on mud/gravel/grass in a different world. Only thing is....my Michelin's just won't balance out perfect. I've had them balanced 4 times in a month, and just can't get rid of a slight transient steering wheel wobble at highway speed. Anyone else experience this with LTX AT2's?

Have them "road force balanced." Not every shop had the right machine to do this. Especially if you are using Toyota rims. Common issue with Tacoma's rims. :(

That was probably going to be my next step. I don't even know where to look to find someone with that machine in my area....but I'll start looking.

That being said....toyota wheels can also be part of the problem? Are you suggesting a nice set of SCS wheels might solve my problems?? Because that would be a really good excuse ha.

LoL I just called a couple places. The Toyota dealer did not have a road force balanced but Chevy next door did. They are the same company though so....

I called Tire Rama and they did too. To be safe I had my Method wheels and Michelin tires road forced.

Why do automakers put mediocre tires on at the factory? It's all about cost. They want the cheapest tire that can meet specific performance characteristics, handling/load requirements, and mileage requirements. They realize that most people couldn't care less about what tires are on the car as long as they roll, and those of us who do are probably going to change them anyway.

I agree. I replaced mine at just under 60K. They served their purpose but I was happy to upgrade when I did.

Bilstien 5100s. Toyota rear spring TSB upgrade. 5th rear spring added. Michelin LTX/MS-2 265-70x16 Addco rear anti-sway bar.
As I have said, clearly there is a Toyota purchasing agent for tires that is receiving cash, sex, booze and drugs from Dunlop.

I figure I save money each month since replacing the Dunlop AT20s, because I do not need to replace my underwear after each drive. The Dunlop's scared me and I replaced them at 1300 miles with Michelin LTX M/S2. Within 50 feet I knew I had made a wise decision.

50k on Dunlop AT20's. Can't rotate because of the knot on one (keep it in the back). Love/hate them. They made it through the snowpocalypse 2014 I've had worse treadwear. Not a big fan of Goodyear products.

You will love those tires,I have a set for use between November and April.Excellent traction in that wet and slushy shit.My truck(18k miles) came with new Yokohama Geolander Ht something, which I sold to a friend that needed tires bad.In the spring I bought a set of Firestone Destination LE2s,which are not that bad.Only time will tell, but have 0 hydroplaning issues.

I see now Toyota is using Hankook Dynapro tires on 2016s.

When I owned a 2012 2.7/auto AC 4x4 I actually really liked these tires (for what they were). Decent snow traction for an all season tire and they'd made it to 33,000 miles with about 45% tread remaining before I traded it in on the DCLB with a V6. I have the same tires on the DCLB V6 and hate them. The sidewalls are way too weak for this heavy of a truck and the thing flops over in the corners. Didn't have that problem too bad with the smaller taco, though - only slightly when the tires were underinflated.

Now that I have the bigger, heavier version of this truck, I can't wait to ditch these tires.
