    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Ordered a set of Total Chaos gussets. Figured since I have a spare set of spindles laying around for the conversion, now would be a good time to strip down the spindles and have them welded.

@foxrcing07 helped me with his press getting the bearings out, I planned on replacing the wheel bearings anyway. We also pressed out the upper ball joint seeing as I wont need the OEM UBJ in the spindle because my SPC upper control arms re-locate the ball joint to the control arm.

Used the Rustoleum gel rust remover (that stuff works pretty good) and ground down most of the areas where the gussets would contact the spindles, to clean them up as best I could.

@Radarninja was kind enough to lend his welding skills to my project. And I very much appreciate it. I think the gussets came out top notch!

I'll blast these things with some more rust remover and spray them down with Por15 recommended by @BartMaster1234

I wouldn't do a one piece. I've heard too many horror stories over them. Carrier Bearing is a PITA, but it's a lot better than the issues I've heard with a one piece. It's also a lot cheaper to just have your existing one shortened.

Should've brought 'em to me. I could've sandblasted that for you. The differential brackets I gave you were sandblasted and painted with POR15.

Most of the time you only hear the horror stories because those are the people who bitch the loudest.

Eliminating the carrier bearing only causes horror stories if you take it to a shop that doesn't know what they're doing. I'm going to ask the driveline shop here in town if they can do it... if they say yes... I go one piece. If they suggest I stay 2 piece, that's what I'll do.

    Valley Balancing is that good.

I did a 1 piece shaft in my 85 toy with a v8 swap with no issues. It had 5 inches of lift, ran smooth. I might try it since I have a spare anyway

Bear in mind this top coat needs to have regular POR15 under it. This is just a UV Stabilizer.

I didn’t know that. I’m just running Rustoleum Self-Etching Primer and POR15 top coat.

Need to update- apparently they changed the formula. It's ok to use it on bare steel- however, using the regular POR15 alone, with topcoat over it, is pretty much invulnerable.
So it's a good, best thing.

So, I've been pretty busy with a lot of other things lately. Haven't been able to keep this thread up to date... and haven't really done a whole lot with the swap.

I did get a chance to replace the ADD jack shaft with a manual. I was missing one of the, short, original star bolts that attach the shaft to the diff... and 2 of the bolts on the ADD shaft are too long to use on yhe manual shaft. So, I found replacement bolt on Amazon... they worked like a Champ!

You should use the mounting arm I gave you instead of that crusty one on the manual tube, I sandblasted it down to bare metal and painted it with POR15.

I will. That one was just still on the shaft. I just haven't been motivated to take it off and put the other one on yet... lol

While you have it off the truck, now's a good time to replace the bushings. @Plastics Guy makes them since no one else seems to manufacture them.

I was thinking about that. I saw he has the bushings. Do you remember how much he's asking for them?
