    Original builder's mindset: if you weld a bracket to the axle and you don't get the width of it right, just booger weld some washers inside it and not use misalignment spacers on the heims like they are designed for :puke:

    Final verdict for the day: axle is free of old brackets and now sitting in the garage. Going to polish up the rest of the axle tube tomorrow maybe so I have a clean slate to weld to.

    On another note, these links that were made for the truck were only 1.75" .120" wall DOM tube, not near strong enough for this truck or any other 3-link truck really. They are being replaced with 2" .250" wall DOM. (all but the panhard bar, the size for that is to be decided).

    The slate is finally clean. Got the transmission crossmember and old link brackets cut off and ground down. Laying on your back while grinding overhead is just so much fun. The DOM tube for the links should be at my doorstep any minute now.
