    Yup, will you come through West Gate or North Gate? Either way, you'll end up going through the East Gate, if you're going to Cody, then Clark (or are you coming to Clark from above?)... And you'll need the time in Yellowstone...but not to play around...to follow RVs and wonder why you went through Yellowstone... haha. NO off highway travel, no dirt, nothing but pavement parking lots, etc. Great views and hopefully wildlife, though!

    We have two. Idk about lander.

    I live 4 blocks from one and it's open 24/7. We can stop at Walmart on the way down to lander if needed. It's on the other side of cody but we will be going through cody anyways

    Sweet! Beautiful drive!

    I recommend pelican point for stopping for lunch. It's right on the lake.

    Would think and hope the west gate..





    Also I know CO is on fire pretty much. Haven't looked at fire restrictions. Will need to tonight tho

    Hey Monte I am curious if you would know if your grocery stores/convenience stores up there sell blocks of ice as well as crushed ice? I find blocks of ice keep much longer in coolers. Just curious cause I can only find blocks of ice at one or two stores down here anymore...

    Yeah, they do. We have LOTS of gas stations too. They sell ice also.

    RE: fire restrictions: we could easily have some enacted for WY/MT by the time August rolls around. This year is promising to be a scorcher. I'm not liking it at all. Already too hot.

    Oh ya. Every gas station basically. Out here gas stations have morphed into full out stores and grocery stores in to gas stations lol

    Plenty of places for ice. The place we will stop at in lander will have ice and fuel.

    Cody and Powell it's everywhere. Maverick is the cheapest usually.

    Damn :mad:

    I hope there are none..sucked last year. Would be horrible this year as none if the trails have developed fire rings.

    Great...blocks of ice keep much longer in coolers and I find them more convenient.


    Don't even talk to me about heat. I've had 2+ months of 100+ temps already, so I am ready to escape the heat for the mountains.

    The mountains in August should be around 60-65 at day and 40s or lower at night. :D

    SOME places around here have blocks...but most times the cubes are half melted when they put them in the freezer cases so they are sorta half cubes and half block ice :rolleyes:

    Usually the fire restrictions only apply to National Forests, the Beartooth Wilderness falls under a different category and shouldn't be affected.
    Last year, had we have known that we were going to make it all the way to Blue Lake, we could have had a fire there on the shore as it is in the BT Wilderness but anywhere else was in the forest and then we were restricted to developed sites.

    Was damn close to freezing here last night...don't forget to pack your thermal underoos...you desert boys might freeze up here.

    Born and raised in Alaska, no need to worry about me freezing. Although I have lived in the desert for quite a while now and my underoos are very lightweight :eek:

    I knew we would make it to the lake and I knew we could have a fire there. But didn't want too since I knew there wasn't a lot of room for camping.
