    No you don't. Knowing you you would fire a shotgun way to early. You want it to be closer the 20yards for a shotgun to be effective. Otherwise you'll just provoke it.

    As not an easy weapon to carry around IMO. Pretty long and heavy...

    Plenty of guns out there that will drop a bear with a well placed shot. Not denying that. But if the situation where to arise. You would have a good shot or much time to pick a nice spot. 600lbs if burning love of mad bear at 30mph towards you..ain't a lot gonna stop that.

    When a bear charges you. I'm sure you wouldn't care how close or far it was haha.

    It's truly frightening. Probably one of the scariest moments of my life. And it wasn't even a full charge. Just a few aggressive steps more like. A bluff charge as they say. Thank god it was a bluff..ha

    But again I feel like this subject has been beaten to death in here. Having lived here most my life and encountered them and such. I'm not worried and guns aren't effective in I'd say over 80% of bad situations. I'm done talking to you trigger happy dopes :D bring your heat. I ain't stopping you. Haha

    This by far the best approach. In bear country, be conscious of your actions regarding food and waste.

    Bears are not like humans, they are not malicious. Just hungry. Lets not do anything to peak their curiosity.
