Altho, now that I think about it, if it involves scrambling up some steep terrain at 12,500+ feel in elevation, it may be quite a challenge.

 

if its an emphysema kit, I think I'm gonna need it

 

I'm hoping a week at 10,000 feet before hand is going to help to acclimate by body a bit. But admittedly, there is a lot to overcome.

Have you been on the road/trail to morrison from the beartooth highway side?

 

I have not. Mike(Mt) and Lisa have though.

Will be pretty but not uber difficult I think. Pretty chill

 

I was trying to find it on google maps. I think I did but the road is not marked. If its the one I'm thinking, the road/trail goes past the ridge where the jeep trail is. Google doesn't show the switchbacks either but I'm pretty sure it is correct.

It looks like the access from the highway is about 1/4 mile west of Little Bear lake on the opposite side of the highway. Also looks to be ~15 miles from the highway to the top of the switchbacks.

Do you have any maps that show this in detail?

 

You can see the road from google earth pretty easily. Ill find a better map though if ya want. I believe in OP it's all traced out too thanks to Ben.

Thanks, yeah, I just 'drove' it in google earth a few minutes ago. Looks like there are two ways in from Bearthotth, one entrance is across from long lake and the other is across from little bear, but they join up pretty quickly.

It also looks like there is access from Chief Joseph highway.

 

Impossible...would have to be a bridge somewhere..either that or it's the very end of chief Joseph.

Or you looking at near dead Indian hill?

If so. That road isn't a road anymore. Grant and I looked at it. Just a dead end and a single track n plus from the morrison side it's private property.

 

I'm just telling what I saw on GE. At the top of morrison, the road Ts. To the right is beartooth (eventually) and to the left is Chief Joseph.

 

Well I've seen a nice maintained road that goes out that way..but if anything it goes to private property.

 

I just drove it all the way to chief jo highway. It comes out at a place called Painter Corner.

The road/trail does not cross the river, it always stays on the north side of the river. It joins the highway just after the highway crosses the river.

 

So it goes behind tabletop mountain??

almost every two lane highway has its roots in a dirt trail/wagon road/indian foot path. They get paved when the locals complain loud enough about the dust.
