Give yourself two full days to do the alpine loop with black bear and imogene passes. Sure, you could drive it all in one day, but you'll definitely want to get out and take pictures. You'll also have numerous spurs and side roads to explore like Yankee Boy Basin.

hmmm..i need to look into this more.

Maybe we can time it right and run it with you?

    agreed..

ill watch that in a minute..

Yes..true. But we still hit a lot going back up..in the day time ;)

I think your underestimating this trail man..it doesn't have Rubicon boulders on it or Moab obstacles, but it does have a SHIT ton of large rocks that are perfect at hitting your diff and LCAs and whatever else. And when i mean a lot..i mean A LOT. Thats why picking a line is hard, you can just put your tire up on the ONE rock to clear..cause there are 6 more that are lined up to knock your diff from all sorts of different angles.

I don't want anyone to hurt their rig. But i don't want to scare anyone away.

He has 33s, so i know he can make it no prob..because i did..and i didn't have skids.

32s are gonna be harder and going to have to watch the lines more

31s will have to go SLOW and have a spoter most the way down.

I would love to do the loop with you guys! Due to work and taking time off (taking a week for moab atm), I'll only be able to take off two days for another trip. So, I would only be able to join in if it was over a weekend plus two weekdays on either side of the weekend.

Just so you're aware, the big FJCruiser summit is in Ouray, CO this year and will be from July 17-21st. If you want to explore with decent solitude, I wouldn't suggest being down there at that time as there will most likely be fj cruisers everywhere. However, some may want to go to that. I know Bob (NYCO) is planning on being down there for that this year.

Unfortunately with work schedules and family in town, it looks like the soonest I'd be able to make it out there would be July 25th. Maybe July 19th if family decides to visit over July 4th instead.

Awesome! Would love to ha e you for that part.

Well we are look at mid August for this part of the trip.

It would kinda fall close to a weekend I think at this point.

We haven't chosen official dates. But this basically adds a day or more to our trip..not really a bad thing haha

Can you camp on the trails too??

Yeah, you can typically camp anywhere in the national forest. Just have to check with the local BLM to get specifics. They do patrol that area quite often so the biggest no-no people get busted for is you gotta keep all 4 wheels on the trail when you park it. A lot of people will pull half way off the trail so they're not blocking it and then get fined in the evening when a forrest ranger drives by. Just gotta know where the wide spots in the trail are and camp there. They take the alpine tundra pretty seriously in that area and protect it very well.

edit: the two trails patrolled most are cinnamon pass and engineer pass. These trails are really easy so they get more traffic and are also easier to patrol as you probably don't even need 4wd.

    can't say i blame them.

kinda the opposite of up here..Only major rule is has to be min 400yards from the highway haha otherwise..fair game pretty much haha

Okay so we will plan some camp spots once we figure out how many rigs are going and what not.

So far its 4 i think with you, me, Mike and Batman.

I'll have a guy in a SAS'd and caged 4runner with me as well. He's probably going to maob, too. He's got a gremlin in his front locker so he's working on that asap, haha.

But seriously, if you could time it so that the CO portion is over or part of a weekend, you'd be much more likely to convince the denver crew to join in the party.

I drove the first couple of miles but stopped because I didn't have a lot of time to be wasting AND it was getting really rocky. Kinda glad I didn't go any further

Yea man if you just go to like the foresst service site and then the national park they will be there.

Every ranger i have talked to has been super chill. Almost never see them in the Big horns or the beartooths unless its in Yellowstone.

The one in Lander patrols Christina and Shoshone though pretty regularly. He has like 4 rigs he takes up there lol He mostly polices fishing though so if your out of state get a license(ben) and even in state too of course.

Yea well i THINK Morrison is going to start on a monday..maybe..Would put us ready to start Alpine on Saturday i think..

well the top part to the actual cliff does get a bit rocky..did you watch that vid i posted? Nothing drastic though.

yea cause the Clarksfork is epic Fly fishing. as is the North Fork if you want to hit that on your way home from Powell if you don't make Lander.
