A little late to the party here, I'll make this kinda simple. I have two country playlists on my phone. One is called "Country" and the other is called "Bro Country AF Boiiiiiiii" give or take a few i's on that...

I listen to many genres of music and I do enjoy both newer "country" and old country. However If I mix them I absolutely hate the new country.

Sounds about right. If I tell myself it's pop, it goes down way easier.

My dad is on the Outlaw Country Cruise for the second year in a row. I'm jealous. He just dumped a bunch of pics on FB.

I love old country music. Pretty much up until the mid to late nineties, Garth brooks was the last great IMO, I absolutely can’t stand most country, or “country pop” now.

Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, George Jones, The Statler Brothers, Alabama, David Allan Coe, etc etc. Stuff like that is all great. As much as I like all those bands/guys, none of them hold a candle to Waylon. That’s not even up for a debate, no matter what you might think. When it comes to the best country artist ever, there’s Waylon Jennings, then there’s everyone else.

I would mostly agree with that, Waylon was pretty damn awesome.

I love country music. By that I mean I love the music of Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash, Haggard, Charlie Daniels, etc.

I do not like tractor rap. Identifying it is easy, if it has rapping in it it's tractor wrap.

I love country music. Most is earlier than the year 2000.
No, we won't likely get another group like The Highwaymen or any more true outlaws like Coe or Hank III. But I like Sturgill Simpson, Stapleton, and John Pardi.
Independent artists need to rise again and speak however the hell they want! Too much "taxation without representation" is the analogy I choose.

Chances are, if it's playing on the FM waves, I consider it pop-country. It's just flat out "pop" period. Not one single "pop" radio station is programmed on my truck sans the heavy rock stations. Those are diving downhill as well, but that's not this thread :)

    Good thread @Juforrest

Actually like Sturgill. The only modern popular country artist that I consider worth anything is Chris Stapleton but we will see if he sells out.

I don't mean to sound crass, or maybe I do, but there's too much worrying and caring about other people's feels and shit now.

Sure, help your fellow man or woman when in need. But be your own person damn it and have an opinion.
