Yes, I’m down to hit some trails. What time were you thinking?

I’d prefer going earlier in the AM.

Just got home from a early morning at Browns Camp. While on University Firepower, I came across a 2021 Suburban. At first I was impressed something of that size made it there, since both ends of that trail are really narrow.

After a closer look it seems like the SUV was maybe stolen and dumped on the trail. Four bullet holes in the front windshield, but no blood inside. Rear glass was broken but no glass on the ground. Airbags were deployed, but only in the rear half. Very very strange.

I have already called it in to the Sheriff.

hope everyone is having a nice long weekend!

I see abandoned stolen cars almost every time I go out these days. The bullet holes are interesting and very sketch.

Another thing I saw up at Browns Camp were brand new red metal gates, installed right off hwy 6. It would block access to the Rogers Camp staging area/parking lot as well as access to Beaver Dam road. Both gates have “closed for fire danger” on them.

Seems inevitable that Browns will be closed for part of the summer :(

it happens every summer. Usually you can still cruise the logging roads but the actual trails get closed once it’s too dry.

I woulda loved to yank that motor out for a swap :anonymous:

EDIT: joke aside, that for real fucking sucks.... thing looks brand new (minus obvious damages) and I doubt that's a cheap loan; and Chevy's are fantastic at losing half their value soon as you exit the stealership parking lot... also, no wonder insurance is so damned expensive...

If anyone is wondering: FS RD 48 is still closed due to snow by the white river/hwy 35 entrance.

That's interesting. We almost ran into each other. We made it down from 35 through that snow patch at about 11:30 on Sunday. Gravity helped us down. There was a 4 door kia sedan on its frame in the ruts that needed pulled out before we made it through. With the warmth and the rain there I bet by Monday the ruts will be down to asphalt.

Also the road 4860 to badger lake has more snow than I wanted to face at about 4800 foot elevation. We ended up wandering the forest service roads east and north from there until we made it to road 44. Cold springs road (4420?) Is snow free but there is still a bit in the ditches (in the 4800-4900 foot elevation range)...

    Guess who bought an altimeter...

That is funny! I wondered if it would have been better coming down. I tried at about 12:30. I’m guessing it will only take a few more trucks and nice days and there will be a decent path. If I wasn’t on a time frame and the truck behind me had more clearance, I could have kept trying, but I had to turn around. Lol
Sounds like a nice day exploring the area!
    Congrats on the altimeter.

If I didn’t have to work today, I’d be up there breaking the path down. It’s been driving me crazy today knowing how close I was to getting through lol.
