Ah man! Bennet was one of favorite roads, so few like it in Oregon.

RIP

 

It was closed for a short time, until mid July this year according to the forestry website. I am headed to Badger Lake on Monday via Bennet Pass road, I shall provide an update on the condition of the road between the Mt Hood Meadows snow park and Grasshopper road.

 

I went about two weeks ago from Bennet Pass Snow Park over to Lookout mt Road. It’s bumpier and busier than usual. But an easy drive with clearance.

 

Ah ok, glad it wasn't permanent!

 

Busier is definitely a bummer. Sometimes when they fix roads they end up making them more accessible to casual drivers, which is unfortunate. A road falling into disrepair sometimes serves as a nice gatekeeper to deter most people.

It could have been the time of day, but we had to navigate three rigs passing from the opposite direction at one of the spots that drops off. We saw about 5 others rigs plus campers in the area too.

 

was going to say we should reach out to FS, and see if they will let us check the road, ive been involved in a few days of clearing roads of trash and trees in the past, but sounds like its back open

 

Started at Bennet Pass snow park and made it to Badger Lake yesterday. No snow on the trail.

Didn’t see a single other person the entire day, but probably normal for a weekday. The road seems less rutted out between terrible traverse and camp windy, still a fun drive though.

 

we really should all get together and do a day drive trip would be fun

I was stuck ... pulling the scout troop trailer to our campout this weekend. No snow, though, just 40f camping.
