Welcome everybody! @C41n you really hit the nail on the head naming this group and it seems to appeal to good folks!

For the whole group, I know many of you are plenty savvy mechanically speaking, but since the best mod is learning how to fix your truck I’m offering to help those who aren’t or are just learning.

So when it comes time to lift your truck or change your belts, or whatever, if you want to learn how to do it yourself and do it right, I’d like to offer to help. Sure you can pay some shop $1,000+ to maybe install things right and maybe use good grease and maybe a torque wrench, and maybe run your lug nuts to 150 ft lbs with a pneumatic impact (by all means, utilize reputable local shops and support them, I realize it’s a time/money decision). So for those with more time than money, that’s the offer. It’s important to share what you learn, and wish I’d had someone around when I was getting into the greasy goods.

Basically anything in the regular maintenance and suspension realm. Lifted a new Tundra last week, holy hell those leaf packs were mega.

PM me if/when any of that’s of interest, this only applies to those lucky enough to have garages (a few tools and jack stands as well) until it’s warmer and sunny!

Hey, I will probably take you up on this!

I am fortunate enough to have plenty of tools and some garage space; but I don't have a TON of experience (none on a Tacoma). I'd say craziest I got was an LS2 rebuild; but even that was just a partial rebuild; with some help.

Side note.... I do still have my HP tuner; but I need to buy credits for my Tacoma; I haven't looked too deep yet, but is there anyone in our area that has experience tuning a taco with HP tuners? Or is there a go-to guy for taco tuning here on the forums?

    You're a good man!

I can personally vouch for this guy, having met him in person. He knows a thing or two about a thing or two.

Most 3rd gen guys are using OVtune (vF tuner platform) and I believe there is support for 2nd gen trucks. You'll have to look into it regarding 2nd gens. I'm not totally sure.

I don't really rebuild shocks, but am happy to help with coilover assembly and such, but I'm guessing you mean rebuilding Icon/King etc. struts? Just bouncing on humble Nitrochargers myself and haven't had that job come my way at work, but perusing rebuild info it doesn't look too bad (famous last words).

It’s not as bad as people think. I was a fox factory certified Suspension tech in a bike shop and really they’re all the same basic things inside, just bigger on trucks. I’ve rebuilt tons of high end MTB and Moto suspension and wouldn’t hesitate to do my truck suspension if I ever upgraded from nitro chargers.

The funny thing is in the Fox class the biggest things they teach are have the service manual, correct tools, use a torque wrench, and follow the service manual. They fully acknowledge there are enough small little differences (torque values, shim orders, etc) that everyone should use the service manual and no one remembers everything. At that point it’s take it apart and put it back together in the same order.

edit: take it apart and put it back together in the same order with new oil, orings, seals, and sometimes bushings.

Hello Fellowship of the PNW Tacomas. I live in the Clackamas area near Portland. Your trip to Brown's Camp run looked like a lot of fun. Did it a couple years ago with some folks from work. Got some rock sliders after that since a tree on Hogs Back decided to block my zig with the side of my truck! Hope to join you all on a future adventure.

Has anyone successfully gotten a dealership in the Portland metro area to do TSB-0058-18 or an equivalent TSB for updating the ECU? Would like to avoid wasting time traveling to dealerships that refuse to.

    TIA
