This was very helpful! I’ve read so many negatives I was honestly concerned about putting one on.
With the Rebel does in overlap the bed and rub at any spot?
hope your move is going okay.

Glad to help! No rubs anywhere on paint, there’s a nice little gap.

If you’re outdoors a lot it’s really handy - I miss the look of an open bed when I see an instafabulous DCSB taco, but have a hard time imaging life without a shell now that I’ve gotten used to it. Even my girl doesn’t want me to ever take it off.

Actually it doesn't even reach the fender area. The Semi-hidden kit is just about as wide as the front grill. The rest is all factory stuff. It may be a bit pricy if you wanted to go low budget. It works well with my winch (which is behind the grill, thus "semi-hidden"). I unfortunately got into an accident once with it and the fire department guy said "Warn makes some tough bumpers" since my car wasn't damaged at all.

    Awesome! Thanks.
Yeah, being able to keep things dry is a huge plus. And the tonneau just isn’t enough when I have to start packing sleds or bikes when we want to go play.

Super basic Leer with sliding windows in front and sides. No frills, but did exactly what I was looking for.

Hah! Hey I wouldn’t mind some reimbursement money for my mods

Maybe one day I’ll be cool enough to get free stuff from companies.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
That would be great if you could score some free stuff! I have a canopy as well and we were camping in Moab and a wind storm/rain hit. My buddies sleeping in their ground tents had quite the night while I was comfy and warm in my canopy. No flapping from the tent to deal with.

Yeah I mean I'd likely ground tent for more room, but the option for 'in the canopy' exists as well if the weather gets too meh.

Yeah being wind proof is super underrated! A lot easier to sleep too when your walls aren’t flapping in your face and making noise lol.

Little tough with a short bed I’m sure.

Well, the day has finally come. Yesterday I said goodbye to my Tacoma, after just 1 short year. Made some great memories in that truck and it felt weird to let it go..............

So I bought another one. :rimshot:

Traded in the stick shift for an automatic (GASP, I know). Stick shift Taco owners everywhere are outraged about this blasphemy. @FashTaco @C41n

Thoughts: I'm really enjoying it so far! :D

    A respectful farewell to the 2020 6MT.
14,500 miles when I traded her in.

And hello to the new 2021 6AT.
5 miles on the odometer when I hopped in.
Waited 3 weeks for it to arrive.

Farewell to the hard key and hello to the key fob! #FancyAF

LOL. This seems so ridiculous, but I'm thankful to be able to do it. Shout out to my wife, because she's the real MVP.

For those wondering how I could trade in a 1 year old truck and not lose my ass.... Got a great deal on the 2020 when purchased new in Nov 2019. This allowed me to go back 1 year later and also make another great deal.
Did I spent money? Yes. Did I lose my ass? No.

Shout out to Vancouver Toyota. They have given me great prices both times and treated me well. If you are thinking about buying a new Toyota or know someone who is, PM me. I will give you the names of the salesperson and sales manager you should speak to there. And if you are curious about what I paid, PM me. I'll share the numbers.

Here's a couple photos from their lot. The MGM truck looks killer. [IMG]

Any particular reason you switched to an automatic?

    Getting lazy I suppose?

After a year, I didn't think the 6MT was a good long term fit for me. I loved the Tacoma, though. Learned to drive at the age of 15 in a stick shift car and I've owned many since then. I just want a more relaxed driving experience at this point I think.

No regrets learning to off road with the 6MT. It has it's advantages and disadvantages just like anything. I value the experience. Overall, for a daily driver I prefer an automatic at this point.

Haha I feel that. I've had similar thoughts and have been contemplating doing the same thing honestly. Been trying to teach my girlfriend how to drive a stick and it hasn't gone so well. I don't know if I could get her comfortable enough to offroad with it. In the event that I was somehow incapacitated to drive out on a rough trail that could be a pretty crappy situation.

Yeah, it's not the easiest stick shift to get accustomed to. I will say that. If you haven't done it, I recommend the ADM (remove the clutch fluid accumulator). This will give the clutch modulation a more direct feel instead of vague. The Taco having electronic throttle, as do all new vehicles, makes for a slightly disconnected feeling when leaving from a stop in first. I was never fully satisfied with the throttle. Most who have ovtune say this is much improved. Before trading in, it would cost you less to tune and ADM. If you still aren't happy, maybe trade.

As for the worst case scenario of being knocked out cold in the woods and your gf having to figure it out....maybe just teach her "If you can't find it, grind it!"

And she will hopefully get y'all outta the woods with that method!

Those are both things I've been looking into. How did you do your ADM? I know there are a couple different options of doing it.

That's not a horrible plan either haha.

Congrats on the new truck! Enjoy!

    Thanks!

I used the hard line that a guy used to pre fab here on TW. He stopped making them.

@C41n used a braided flex line. I believe that line was intended for a clutch system on a Honda s2000. It should be a direct bolt on to the Tacoma. We could probably dig up the part number for you. Not expensive.
