This is my first ever 4x4, I have zero off road experience.
Can I join you all on the next outing?

May need a bit of help if someone has the patience.

Welcome brother! This is a newbie friendly group.

Sadly because of covid I haven't been willing to organize another outing. Pondering changing my mind on that. Fairly easy to keep our distance from one another on the trail. Just doesn't seem right to organize a meet up in the middle of a pandemic.

On the other hand, this is likely going to be going on for a long time yet and the trails are officially open.

    I dunno :notsure:

I was out and about Saturday and saw groups of 10+ cars going into the woods. Not sure what they were doing, but certainly people are getting out. 4 hours and never saw police or forest service. This is a place an officer could patrol easily if they wanted.
Guess my point is, it’s feeling like it’s time to get out on a run soon.

Is Washington’s forest opening up yet? You guys are further ahead on some things it seemed like.

Sparrow park road in Oregon ( north side of Winchester bay ) is open and has a good size sand dune spot behind the beach, Pretty easy trails might get a little trail striping IMG_3185.jpg IMG_3188.jpg On a side note who is this ? That is about my only rule I have keep the water below the bottom of the doors. Unless it's just a quick crossing. I've had my FJ40 under water up to the windshield and drove it out, water up to the seats, but That was in Waipio valley in Hawaii clear warm water so it felt nice . Now being in the land of cold water, I prefer rocks or desert trails

I hate mildew smell with a passion. If the water is coming anywhere near the bottom of my doors, that's gonna me a nope from me dawg.

Also I don't care if the douche canoe on the trail behind me thinks I'm being a pussy. I am gonna get out and check every puddle that looks even remotely like it might be deep enough to be a problem.

    Yes sir.

Taco down! Saw this pic yesterday. It's not anyone we know. I'm wondering how he/she ended up like that... just looking at that pic thinking how? Bad day for them.

Looks almost like they were trying to go around and it wasn’t wide enough or the slipped into the puddle. Lucky it didn’t roll.

maybe we could also do something around Larch mountain if it’s open?

The few trails up around Larch are not something most are gonna do without at least 33s on their 3rd gen. I did one of the trails and it was pretty sweet. Doable stock, but careful wheel placement. I did still manage to knock my alignment out slightly somehow. Just need a little more ground clearance for large rocks mostly.

Hey I am new to off roading and I seen the recommended gear to have on the first post. I was looking in to getting the grms radios and I found you need a license to us them if they are above 2 watts. So I was wondering if they are a must? The license is $70. Good for ten years but it takes 90-120 days to get.

Welcome Cody-your from over on PNW Tacoma right?
Most of what we’re using is less than 5w and no license needed. Checkout the midland GXT1000.

Cool. If you look over our thread there are some spots you will find in the area to go as well.
