I'm sending you a PM about doing this to my truck. I've thought about just trading my truck in on a 4x4 but I'd be losing big money on sound deadening and wiring in my current truck.

It's also being anal and knowing that my truck has been babied its whole life and I don't feel comfortable trading it for an older truck with more miles or a newer truck thats at least $5k more. At that point, I should just do the swap, no?

Excellent point. Not to mention I bought a Toyota to avoid reliability issues. Just what a pain in the ass swapping all of my shit out and into a new truck would be… For months I've been thinking of buying a 4x4 project truck so I may just stick with that plan.

You can borrow my flux capacitor. I do not have a Mr. Fusion, but I do have a Ninja blender.

Kidding aside.... If you have the time, space and $$, I think it is a worthwhile project.

Internally the transmissions are the same. It's just the rear output shaft and extension housings that are not the same. They also use very different transmission mounts and cross members between the two.

Could I just swap the output shaft and extension housing for the transfer case to bolt up? I know the crossmember would require mods, but i am just trying not to replace my 65k mile transmission.

cutting sections out of the old crossmember will definitely help getting it lined up.
