The first FPS (First Person Shooter) you played?

I picked up a lot of FPSs around the same time but the one I dumped the most of my time into as a kid was SOCOM. First FPS I ever played online too. I remember not having much of a concept of online play and adding the network adaptor module to my ps2 sounds extremely archaic now.

Then started playing into what was/is considered the OG fan favorite SOCOM II right when SOCOM 3 dropped and everyone sort of migrated and so did I. Made a lot of good friends, picked up a bad language habit. And then it all sort of fizzled out and Sony totally killed the franchise after that with some awful sequels and changes in the studios working on the franchise, but fond memories. My dad used to play Ghost Recon on PC while I played SOCOM online on a shitty, like 12” tube tv.

 

Third person.

 

As I was reading through I was wondering if anyone played it . I ditched work and went to EB games and got me the game and network adapter day one and played all night . That was my first real fps shooter . I don't count duck hunt .
It's more of a parlor style shooting game.

The timeline is hazy so it would either have been Doom on the family computer or Goldeneye on a friend's N64.

Probably the original Doom on a DOS shareware floppy disc I think I bought at a flea market.

Duke 3d was I think my favorite back in those days though. As a kid any game that you could walk up in a bathroom and take a whiz or give a stripper a few bucks to flash you was as about as good as it got back then….

 

I'm in the process of putting my computer back together, new case, AIO cooling, M.2 drive etc.
Older hardware but I still play older PC games so I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon.

I have most of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six games that I've never finished along with a bunch more PC games.

Far Cry 4 on PC surprisingly enough, if I count one I actually enjoyed. I'm not a huge fan of FPS games but if they're tied into a well done story line I'm all for it.

Otherwise it was Quake on N64 as a child.

 

Being an older gamer, the first FPS I played was definitely DOOM.

 

Played tons of fps's but the only one I keep going back to is team fortress 2
