I took mine off about two after having my truck. I didn't care for the looks and going over curbs, they dragged each and every time. Once I removed them, I place clear 3M material on the lower body area to provide a bit of protection.

If I could rock my mud flaps I would. Oversize tires and rear bumper are the reason I no longer have them

I'd love to take my mud flaps off too. But I haven't for the same reason you mention here.

In one week I had two windshield chips (one has turned into a long crack). The first came from a rock thrown by a passenger car (which obviously had no mud flaps). The second came from a semi travelling the OPPOSITE direction I was on a highway. How a semi throws a rock ahead of itself is probably difficult to make folks understand - but they do! All this got me to thinking about how much gravel gets slung out from under my Michelin LTX's. I hear rocks clank off my N-Fab side steps all the time even though I still have my mudflaps on.

I removed mine early on because they rubbed on every terrace when in the pasture. Also took the little flaps in front of the front tires off too. Not sure what they're even for.

Can the stock flaps be sold?

On a reg cab, the huge front flaps made it look like a 4 wheeler, atv
I cut them, using the back flaps as a template, couple of inches made a difference, making them somewhat symetrical w the backs and they will still be effective w winter road salt.
I am noticing alot more aftermarket flaps on pickups and suvs lately, dont know if its a popular thing, or a common courtesy thing.

Unfortunately...as you can read above...common courtesy is all too UNCOMMON.

RocBlokz do make a flap for oversized tires. They have 3 sizes, short, stock-ish and oversized.

I also like the Rocbloks flaps, there is a link with more info in my sig. Though plenty of others have made their own or run universal flaps for cheaper.

Yes, because so many people break them they actually sell quite easily. Sold mine in 3 days for $80, to 2 different people, one fronts other rears.

I bought my truck in pennsylvania, in february and on the drive home, my dads saturn vue, kicked up a pebble and it put a ding in my windshield...right in my line of sight too. With the pebbles in the sand and salt road treatments in the northeast, its basically unavoidable. Most suvs dont have flaps, cars kick up pebbles too, so it just statistically happens. When i do see a lifted truck w mega tires without flaps during winter, i simply dont drive behind them as many of us do.
In regards to the stock plastic flaps, bending, breaking, scraping...in past threads i remember folks sayin they would take the flaps off for offroad use.

I bought my truck just over 8 years ago. I'd never had mud flaps and decided to give them a try. Within 2.5 years the front ones were broken. I took off all 4 and haven't missed them. I still got mud on the sides of the truck with them, it just covers a little more surface area now. I probably drive 1000-1500 miles a year on gravel roads. Never had any issues with any rocks doing any damage.

Got rid of the front ones, kept the rear ones. Sliders protect the body from some rocks, but honestly I don't care if I have paint chips or not. It's not like I wash it enough to know.

I'm starting to get on board with the cut offs....4" (just above the 4X4) looks like the hot set up!

Between having a Fred Flinstone era monitor here at work, and my bad eyesight, the view I'm seeing isn't perfect, but from what I can see, that's just about the exact spot to cut off those bad boys.
