    On another note what
Suspension setups are you all running to support your flippac? I’m looking for a decent set up with good ride quality. Currently running 5100s with an add a leaf in the rear.

Who has replaced their mattress? I picked up a 3” memory foam topper from WalMart last year and it’s fine but I’d like something a little better and something I can just leave in the bead area and not have to mess with an inflatable.

Also what material would you suggest for a mattress cover? I can’t find anything that will fit the foam topper so I’m guessing I’ll have to make something myself.

Just did this. I decided to go with a denser 2" foam as I read that anything more will make the top difficult to close. Unless you know someone who sews or plan to take the cover somewhere, I would also see if they would be willing to sew some velcro on the cover for you with the proper side...on mine it is the hook. You would just need to measure where.

Well shit sorry totally didn’t see that your last message was your quote sorry about that. Anyway I’ll definitely look in to that company I’m sure it’s better than what I’ve got now.

Hello everyone, new to the forums here but had a question about my Flippac and this seems to be the most updated thread going on the internet.
I’m trying to remove one of the broken hinges for the top section of the camper (removing a sheered bolt and broken hinge) does anyone have experience with this? For the life of me I can’t get the broken hinges out of the housing! Are there actually 3 bolts holding it in, like the bottom hinge, or just 2. Can’t seem to find the 3rd bolt if there is one. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Here is a picture of the 2 bolts I was able to remove, but still no luck getting the old hinge out. I’m afraid I might have to cut into the fiberglass and cut the actual metal sleeve to access the hinge. If anyone has some ideas on how to avoid this that would be amazing.
This is the hinge to the top part of my Flippac.

I believe those are it for the fasteners. @G.T. may prove me wrong though.
I do know that they are siliconed in and you’d have to cut all that out to be able to remove them.
What does the other side look like?

Some stick on chrome from pep boys
Heaps of silicone in there. I don’t have a FlipPac anymore but if memory serves me there are only two bolts per side. The structure channels that the hinges fit into are steel and there may be a case of dissimilar metal corrosion going on creating a weld that you’d have to fight.

Stumbled upon this thread and glad to see it’s still active. I have had my Flippac now for almost 9 years. I have done a few things to it, repairs, add ons etc....here’s a new one for me. Always check to make sure there are no animals in the bed area before closing. My cat was up there and as I thought my torsion bar was getting read to go due to the little bit of extra weight. I heard a thunk as it got vertical, set it back down, checked the inside to makes sure I had secured the hammock. Started again, and another thunk. Checked again, and there was my cat up top, poking out from behind the hammock. I’ll bounce through this thread to see what’s been going on since I last posted.

Holy cow glad the cats ok! Are you the original owner??

On a side note in ordering the replacement hinge kit from sway away. Anyone changed them out before?

I’m glad I was cautious in closing. I always am, thinking”this will be the one that breaks the torsion bar”, LOL. No, I am not the original owner. It had a previous history in CA and then AZ. I made a 3 way transaction on Expeditionportal where I bought one member’s Flippac with windows so he could buy another member’s Flippac that did not have windows. Mine was dropped off at AT and I had them check it out, add a windoor, paint it, upgrade the lights and do the install. So many trips since then and so many mods.

I thought I would contribute to this post with how I set up the interior. I copied/modified some other ones that I liked and this was my final design. It was also my first time using a Kreg tool, building boxes/cabinets, lining up latches...LOL. But It all came together. I used trunk paint for the color.
