Anyone in SoCal know of a place that would a torsion bar replacement/ repair? Mine is holding up fine, but will need some attention eventually. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Also, anyone have a place in Socal that replaced the stock siding windows with windoors? Thanks in advanced!

Were you able to find the hood pin brackets somewhere, or were you able to have them made? I'm looking for a pair to complete my setup.

hey everyone...i finally got a flippac. Been keeping an eye out for a while, had a few get away from me. This one popped up in Sacramento and i jumped on it. I've got it mounted on a 2004 xtra cab.

I believe it's one of the later models from either FRP or AT, but before they started doing the alu versions...habitat.
So it looks like the thing sags a bit as there's a bit of gap on the left back window.
It's got the typical crack in the fiberglass in the middle of the back.
I'm thinking of trying to ratchet it square and then mount it firmly to the bed rails. Hoping that provides the support and rigidity it needs.

To do that, I will be:
Reinforcing the bed rails - they're only 1.5" wide. At least it's not a composite bed like the 2nd and 3rd gens, but still, I'm thinking i'm gonna add square rail under the bed rails with uprights that bolt into the bed and ideally the frame. I'm also thinking about then using some 4 or 5 inch wide flat steel to make bed rail caps that are wider. Will probably fab up a couple of those bed stiffeners at the tail gate area.

Then...more projects like adding racks, building out interior somewhat.

I'd appreciate any input from guys who've had a 1st gen + flippac for how they had it bolted down and any other insights.

Been reading through this thread a lot.

i ended up dropping $4500 for it...they're rare these days and i've been itching to get one so figure i'd drop the bucks.
main reason for not going slid in is basically weigh (and cost)
I had a regular camper shell on before. built out a platform. Other route i was gonna go was tall camper shell + racks and platform in bed...but then this thing showed up on Craigslist.

Oh wow that looks really nice, yeah they are rare idk why no one makes one now, I did the same I have a hi rise fiberglass made a setup a bed, cubbies, a table basically a mini rv but it was not manageable, Flippac is great cus of the weight, my only thing with the flippy is the tent on top im jist scared of animals ripping through it lol Ijust saw 4wheel campers website and they starting to make 400lb pop ups for 10k which is still a lot

Nice, it looks real clean good find! I’d agree with you on the slide in they are nice but just huge and with the FlipPac at least you get to keep the bed. I haven’t done any build out on mine but I did replace the hinges and torsion bar. Also on a side note I’m not sure if yours came with a rain fly but I’m selling my old one if you’re interested.

I sold my Tacoma (very sad day) which had a Flip Pac Camper shell and I have the rain cover, which is like new, for sale. I thought I post it here and see if there is any interest. It fits a standard size Toyota Tacoma Flip Pac. I had clear tent window professional installed by Alaska Tarp & Tent, a $350 improvement. I’m asking $400. If you’re interested, send me an email - skipowder1@hotmail.com

totally. Found a nice one on expo portal but the owner ghosted the thread

Those are killer but out of my budget and not a fan of the lay out. I would go at habitat or gfc if I were to buy new

I've already got a high roof with storage/sleeping platform. being 6'3" its fine if im solo sleeping diagonal but id like something that fits the girlfriend and my 2 dogs. Tent camping is fine but a flippac or habitat would be ideal

I was saving for the Habitat when I happened upon my Flippac.
I believe the Flippac is a better design in regards to user friendliness but the Habitat has a far superior tent.
If I could replace the current Flippac tent with something that didn’t require the rain fly it would be perfect.

Scott, If you still have the FlipPac brochure I'd like to get a color copy or purchase your original. BTW, this is my first post! Happy to be here. Although I don't know how to securely get you my contact info. Anyway...Thanks! Greg (grp4sgt)

Very much agree, the rain fly is great and I don't mind deploying it but I do mind packing it up.
