I got it from the 1st owner in Salt Lake City. She took such good care of it, I'm thrilled. I am pretty sure it was closer to an original one as well (correct me if I'm wrong). She said she got the truck and camper together in the late 90's with her husband. Its been in a garage for the past 4-5 years for the most part.

Flippac’s are the goods. Shame that they’re not available to purchase new anymore. :(

Anyone have any experience removing the rear hatch on their Flippac? Just trying to remove the hatch from the frame?

All just acquired a new to me flip pac. 6 footer for my DCLB. Got it on, just haven’t attached the hood clips, whatever they are called. Looks like I just pre drill two holes into the body of my truck. Then attach the latch with the sheet metal screws?
Did any of you put any corrosion prevention on the holes after you pre drilled? Here’s a pic of what they previous owner did. He measured wrong the first time, as you can tell from the two extra holes.

I think it looks awesome sitting on my black truck

Looks awesome! I took some silicone and applied it to the hood clip side that touches the car, then just sunk them in and the silicone sorta squeezed out the sides a bit and filled any gaps to prevent corrosion.

That’s a great idea. Did you pre drill, or did the sheet metal screws go right thru?

Pre-drilled mine (small) then sheet metal screws......uh, aren't the bracket tabs supposed to face forward? Which will put the tab outside away from hood.

I believe they are supposed to face forward. I was actually going to use you photo from awhile ago to help me get mine setup. Where exactly do you have your positioned? I can’t find any placement instructions or help anywhere

I didnt predrill but probably safer to do so. They point forward, and you just find the placement by hanging the supports down from the flippac and see where they line up vertically. I made some wire clip sort of things to keep them on the mounts when I have it deployed.

FWIW, the video is by Adventure Trailers who were a reseller and installer of FlipPacs. So they were probably the ones who decided to install the face the posts to the rear. At least for my FlipPac that was installed at the manufacturer’s facility in Riverside (FRP) they face forward.

But what I think is the real difference is the angle the supports are at when installed.

In the AT video you can see the supports are near vertical and if anything actually the tops (roof of FlipPac) are further forward than the bottoms (hood). Thus facing the posts/clips to the rear makes sense since the slight upward angle the post/clip makes matches the arc that the support follows when you slide it on.

On my FlipPac the support bottoms are instead definitely forward of the tops. Thus pointing the posts/clips to the front matches the arc the supports travel as they slide over the posts/clips.

So I’d say for your install decide on face forward/backward based on the angle of the support when installed. This probably depends on a number of factors (type of FlipPac, difference in height of bedsides to hood, distance along hood, length of supports, etc. etc.) so there probably isn’t a universal “right” answer.

All, thanks for all the info about placement of the latches. Got them on last night. Ended up point them forward.
Now I can start using this thing. Get ready for some questions.
    1. Have any of you replaced the hammock with different material, webbing, cloth, etc…?

Just back from 3 weeks in Baja with the Flippac I bought this summer. Had a great time, was so much better than our last trip in a normal tent. Wife (who is 4 months pregnant) loved it, wants to do a lot more camping.

Hey guys, so I’m most likely going to be posting my FlipPac for sale soonish and wondering what you all think it might be worth?

    - I’m not sure on the year but I believe it’s an earlier (pre-AT) version.
    Pros
    - New torsion bar in 2020
    - New hinges in 2020
    - New SLO Rainfly 2022
    - tent material and hammock are in good condition.
    - All zippers work
    Cons
    - The screen material is brittle and ripped on two windows. Previous owner tried to fix one.
    - No bed, I’ve been using the Exped MegaMat
    - Bulb seals should be replaced.
    - Rear hatch struts could be replaced, they don’t hold open in cold weather.
    - The previous owner broke the passenger window and replaced it with acrylic and siliconed it shut but you can see through it.
    - The carpet is fine but not great.
    - The clear coat is gone but still has the original paint.
    - There are some spots that will need fiberglass repair for aesthetics.
    - There is one crack by the passenger window that will need repair sooner than later so it doesn’t spread.
    - Missing the support bars but I use some conduit and they seem to work fine, I haven’t had any issues.

So overall the FlipPac is still in good working order and I haven’t had any major issues, it just needs some TLC.

Anyway, with that information does anyone have thoughts on a sale price?

The FlipPac is officially for sale, it’s located in Albuquerque, NM. I’m honestly still not sure about price but I’m open to suggestions/offers.
