At 8, I'll be next door at Goodyear having an alignment done. Might walk over and pick up my parts to keep the little one entertained.

IDK Toyota said: Oh yeah most Tacomas have this issue lol. Then proceeded to say they would install my OME ones for free :)

2nd and 3rd gens have notoriously shitty leaf springs. There was/is a recall on them. Recall springs are supposedly marginally better. Best bet is go with aftermarket replacement.

They have been squeaking since about 100miles. I have them lubed every month, and then 5 days later they squeak.

ok so Aleu is capable of doing some semi long distance trips lol. went over to Panhandle Drivelines over in Milton and dropped the rear driveshaft off to get shortened for the 80. Wow.....im happy that she is capable of driving at least an hour away....but I will never do that again until the exhaust is quieted down, I have bucket seats, and my motor swap is done so I can ACTUALLY do the speed limit haha. She had so much trouble keeping up with the 55mph speed limit lol. But never again lol, exhaust was deafening and that damned bench seat is so uncomfortable lol, got home and my ears are ringing and my ass hurts lol. Either way haha, im taking my Tacoma tomorrow and taking I-10 lol when I go back to pick the driveshaft up lol

Mine only started squeaking after it sat in a pond overnight. I haven't greased them yet, but I did blast them with the pressure washer this weekend. I figured there was some sediment between the plates.

Being new to upgrades and such; other than the squeak, what would be the benefits of upgrading rear springs to an aftermarket set?

When I went wheeling the first time before my lift, my leafs squeaked like crazy. When I installed my add a leaf a couple weeks later and I had the leafs apart, there was so much sand and dirt in between the leafs. After cleaning it out it stopped. That very well may be your problem.

That's what I figured. I was replacing the front diff fluid and found a bunch more sand on the frame. Guess I need to take the rear springs apart to get the squeak to stop.

@Jystr - I was at the dealer about 0830 getting my parts for the breather mod. Every time I've had to take the truck to the Panama City dealer for something they have been great.

Taking them apart isn't too bad either. You could do it in a couple hours. I was very surprised at how much stuff managed to wedge it's way in there.

If nothing comes up, I'm planing on visiting the "truck stuck spot" this weekend to see the hole without water. I washed about a half inch of sand off the skid plates and frame and even more residual stuff when I replaced the rear diff fluid.

It's not horrible, I only notice it when getting in or out of the truck. It only really bothers me because it didn't used to do that.
