Hey what's your favorite axle removal method?
I've done a few and all have been a pain.

Pry bar. Some pop easy some take a lot of prying. Sometimes I'll spin the axle a 1/4 turn and pry some more if they are being stubborn.

Yeah. I think I can just clean it out and throw a used whole camshaft cradle assmebly in. Found a few in the $100 ranfge on ebay. I just need to figure out which years are compatible.

Also I do trail riding on the side and want to dabble in some rock crawling/trials stuff and I think the 4stroke bottom end will be useful there. I don't think I'll ever get as baller as my cousin in the sand so I probably won't need more than my 450 anyway. Haha

Can you even get Kokanee in Idaho? I've never had it, but I've never looked for it either. I usually stick to Coors, Sam Adams, and Blue Moon.

So what's the word on the ORIs? You recommend them after using them?

I crawl more than I haul ass these days and the CO's are pretty worn and beat.

If you put the ORI's pressure up high do they help with the body roll on pavement?

They handle body roll very well. I loved how mine handled in corners after switching to ORI's. They are somewhat easy to valve. Rebound just has an adjuster on the bottom like a dirt bike and comp you just add set screws that you can pick up at the hardware store rather than having to order shims. Most people have found that they are happy with the stock valving though. In the rocks they flex very well since they don't load like a coil does. The one downside I have found is that you will want your own Nitrogen bottle, unless you have good access to one. I find that in the winter when it cools off the shocks will settle down a lot so I have to add some more nitro to them. Then again when it warms up in the summer I had to bleed some back out. If you leave somewhere that has smaller temp swings it may not be an issue unless you are really OCD about it. (Idaho sees 90+ degree differences between Summer and Winter). I will also bleed some nitro out when towing so I'm level or raked rather than bro leaned out, but I consider that a perk.

Overall I really like them and I may get some if I go with a +3.5" LT kit. I'm planning on going with a wider kit though and will likely just get the C/O's they recommend since I will have some helpful advice when tuning them (nobody knows anything about ORI's on Tacomas so you are basically on your own). It will depend on prices and how much freetime I have though really. I'm still a ways out from buying a kit. Ideally I'd really like to link the rear and have ORI's on all 4 corners and hard mount a nitro bottle and run some lines with swtiches in cab to adjust ride height on the fly.

Hit the dunes today! By myself... The Idaho State 4x4 Association Annual Meet is this weekend and I was in charge of the group going to the dunes. 2 of the 11 guys signed up for the dunes showed up... I was 1 of those 2. The other was a guy who said he would turn 80 in a few months and his wife in their JK. We drove 45 minutes to the dunes and aired down for him to drive around for about 5 minutes and leave... He said they just wanted to go see it to say they've seen it. haha So I spent about 4 hours there by myself. BS'd with a couple sandrail groups and drug one of the rails back to camp. Fuel pump died.

I don't remember if I mentioned my oil leak in here, but I swapped the front main seal Monday and it hasn't leaked any oil since! :woot:

That is exactly why I got tired of "group" runs. It's so much easier just to fly solo. Until you break something, then it kind of sucks.

Yeah. I really can't expect anymore taking rock crawlers to the sand dunes. Haha. There's a group of 15 or so lined up ready to go night crawling though.

I was just sitting down to watch this episode to see if they actually put me in it. Pretty short. I should have got them to film me through the whoops, but I was almost out of gas when they showed up...
