    What makes a truck "expo"

Tall skinny tires? Upgraded suspension? RTT? A fridge? OBA?

Seems like it should just be called a "truck"

    Nah idk. Debated topic.

To me it's a vehicle that allows you to travel and live purely from it comfortably for a long period if time(week at least). Just me though.

I think most would answer that as the ability to get off the grid. "How expo" varies with what you can carry and how long you can avoid restocking.

The roof rack? Made it. Technically it's part of the bed rack

Shit, if that's the case my friends Tokes and Bolin from VT can call Tokes' 1978 Ford Squire station wagon "expo" considering they lived out of it for most of the year (and would crash on my couch in winter)

Haha well I guess I'd add the ability to go to remote places but really people do long trips in basic vehicles all the time.

Yea allpro almost did. Where I got the idea for the roof rack suspended off the bed rack. Sadly they didn't produce it. So ya. Gotta make it yourself.

Little bro5 copied me a bit and it turned out good. Believe he is selling it for 900.

And flash tacoma something also made one similar after me.

Did you know a guy that worked for All-poo. Sounds like a bit of inside knowledge if they 'almost' produced it ;)

I was in contact with them about it yes cause I wanted it so bad. They thought about making 3-5 but ultimately decided the weight capacity was too low and didn't work well.

    Sucks.

Huh..that's a very good definition as well. I like it.

    And thanks :)

I'd agree with the purpose part tho. I never really thought of that but it's totally true. Doing things with function and organization.

    Cool thoughts man.

Good discussion about "expo" going on here. I'd just add one more element... reliability.

Many rigs are built to handle large obstacles, many are built to provide the ability to be comfortable to live out of, but expo rigs also have the element of reliability. (that's why you don't commonly see huge tires or huge power on expo rigs)

For me, a key is having a rig that can handle poor roads/offroad/mild(ish) crawling without a significant chance of breaking while out in the middle of nowhere. But, if I do break something, an expo rig must have the tools/parts to be repaired without outside help.

    Just my two cents

Monte, how did you attach your license plate to your spare tire? I'm looking at ATO and Pelfreybilt H/C rears, but the ATO doesn't really seem to have a well-thought out license plate mount, although it is much cheaper and still an awesome bumper so I am keeping it on the list. I would like to get the ATO if I can figure out a way to mount the license plate on the spare tire like you do.

Just used some 1.5'' angle i had left over and some strap to connect the two pieces. You just put it on the top lug that holds the tire on like a washer. You do have to use a wrench instead of the tire iron but i have a full set of wrenches with me at all times. Its pretty handy really. I have plans to put a small light there to make it legal too just never got to it.

Bah! Waste of steel. Just screw the license plate directly to the spare. :D
