What?! The price difference is a few $100 for a set on most tires. I wish I could run 15's for that reason!

    Why?

How would a SC 3.4 with a auto trans and 33's do? (stock gearing).
And why should i SC my truck? (instead of dropping a 4bt in it)

If you can run a 15" wheel you can get the same tires for less. Only other difference really is they make very few that are over 35" tall.

I think Monte's biggest reason is that they are almost all sized in metric and he doesn't know how to read it ;) While almost all 15's and 17's are sized in flotation :stirthepot:

I hate the metric sizing. Drives me nuts. I like my 12.5 wide tires. Most are 11.5 or so on 16s. Just a personal thing. I want 35x12.5r15s or 35x12.5r17s. Only reason id go to a 17 is for the tundra brake upgrade..which i really wish i could do now...

SC 3.4 and 33s would be good. But the SC doesn't help from down shifting on the hwy when in CC. Only re gearing will help that. So, you AT will still hunt for gears while pulling hills or hauling heavier loads.

but why SC? cause its awesome. Seriously. I have been in Tony's SC 5vz(SupraT) and it is bad ass to listen to the whine and the power is awesome. His was a 5 speed though. My dads though(its a 2nd gen, so bit different) is freaking awesome as well to drive. SC are fun. Well worth it i think. But if i could choose..id still go turbo personally, more power and torque and i love BOVs :p haha

Still, SC are awesome, be much more fun with a Manual but still be good with a AT.

    You gonna get one?

Haha i hate the metric sizing! plus none of them are close to the same. 285/75s look small next to my 33x12.5s

Yea cause in the winter i have to go all the way around to jackson. But still..snow wheeling anyone?

    your comparing 33x9 to a 33x10.5..haha

I agree, the SC is tried and true, and with the URD stuff very powerful and still very reliable. 4bt is very custom and takes a ton of time and work. Not really worth it IMO. Id rather do a V8 or 2jz if your goin to swap something.

But when you flip that to the more common size of 285/75/16 it's $276 for a difference of $320 for a set of 5.

Then when you step up to 35's

    315/75/16= $351
    35x12.5R15= $258

For a difference of $465 for a set of 5...

MT/R's have a very similar price difference between them as well...

If you compare 37's on 15" and 17" (almost nobody makes them for 16's) there are even bigger price differences. Tire prices for 20's are pretty crazy too.

Hmmmm, i may have to look into that down the road for my "off road" tire/wheel setup.

    it is confusing
yeah, i haven't read of any issues with the SC.
I do like the whine that my cousins MINI S has, and always filling up with premium doesn't really bother me.
You can't put a BOV on a S/C? i love the way my cousins WRX sounds with a fancy BOV. But turbo is more expensive, and if i'm gonna go over $5k then i'd drop in a 4bt.

The Turbo requires a piggyback ECU right? that's $ and complication vs the S/C.

Yep, looking into it pretty hard.

The TRD S/C has one but it is internal and blows into the exhaust I believe so you don't hear it. The URD S/C kit has one that you can hear though.

So there's probably a way to make it more "macho", but it's probably a pain.

URD is $$$ compared to TRD though.

    12.5s..bitches..

Well really..the SC needs it too. If you live in higher elevational areas you need the 7th injector kit from URD and it has a littl e piggy back.

Turbos require much more work for tuning yes and all that.

the SC has kind of a built in BOV..but its jut a bypass valve. It doesn't make the WHOOSH sound like a turbo since the air still goes in and the SC just winds down.

only SC that have BOVs are the SC like URD kits have for the 2nd gens. Gadget was supposedly making a kit for us 1gen guys with his SCs but..never got around to finishing it i believe. Our ECUs work odd and are a pain to tune.

but yes, turbo gonna cost a hell of a lot more. About the same as a engine swap probably. And i still wouldn't do a 4bt swap personally.

the SC and URD goodies though can put you just over 300hp so plenty of get up and go.

The difference in going from my 285s to 33 12.50s was night and day. But I did add heavy ass rims...

Rubicon..bitch. You need 33s for that shit. Get on it. so around the same time i get lockers :p

Not really..definetly not worth changing the entire SC for a little BOV noise..

URD like i just posted doesn't have an official kit for us. They made a prototype and then it just kinda..disappeared and gadget stopped working on it i guess.
