Also gonna play with putting the fridge back in but before I do, I have a small piece of dynamat (18x32") that I'm going to put on the back below the window. It isn't enough to cover all the back but I'm hoping that between the fridge and the matt, the road noise will be reduced back to the level it was before I removed the rear seat pads and back pad.

 

yea.....would never run that sub..ever..tend to under powered and suffocated. Never efficient.

yes putting lights there is popular, or full LED bars.

ahhhh thats a good idea. Im sure it'l help a bit. I know id like to mat my truck again. its loud..but..might not be worth it at this point..haha

forgot about the fridge too..have you tried it yet with the rear seat out? did you gain the room you wanted?

 

If the little bit of matt I have makes a difference, then I may do the whole back area. We'll see.

I definitely gained some room but until I put the fridge back in, I wont kno for sure exactly how much. Recall, the goal was to be able to move the passenger seat back a little. You sat in that seat, you kno how it was.

never considered having it live in the bed huh? can you get a cover for it like the ARBs?

 

I'm honestly not to picky about my audio,the stock speakers in our 87 suburban were half decent at road volume.
My current speakers do pretty good, even when it's tuned up, the only thing i want (for now) is a little more low end, which that sub will do good for me, i basically only listen to country (this is the most system stressing song i listen to i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_P-YNJIdNc)

Any idea on how they mount them?
I'm working on a way to mount them, but i'll have to figure if i'm gonna mount them upside down or not.
I think i can get away with mounting them right side up, but i'll have to trim a little i think.

 

that sub won't make a big difference..some..but not a big one.

to mount that sub..id have it facing up or if its behind the seat towards the front.

Would not put it upside down, not designed to do that. would need some space between the woofer and the bottom surface. YOu could do calculations to figure out the optimum distance to create coupling at certain frequencies but only some and could be a few inches for down firing to work. Most home theater subs are down firing but have 2-4'' between the ground and sub.

bolting the sub down and amps is the best way. There are different ways to do that. I havn't put one in my double cab so i don't have any ideas really for the double cabs.

 

I don't need to tell you how bed space is a premium these days. When we go for 2 weeks, it means having to bring a lot of "stuff".

For a fridge to work in the bed, it almost has to be mounted on a slider because you cant open it under the bed rack and that means it has to be in the way of getting stuff in and out and all.

I guess I'm not ready for that yet. Maybe if I had a tailgate kitchen like you do it might be more interesting to try.

and true..is a pro of having the higher bed rack i can open my coolers

but yea..bed space is coming at a premium thats for sure..I have no doubts though if the kitchen was there for you you'd consider it..but..that'll have to wait a bit..hopefully not to long...

How would you bolt in a sub or amp (when it's on the floor)?
You don't want to drill through the floor do you? I guess you could take a piece of metal, tack a nut to it and tack that to the floor.

any bolts i have drilled through the floor which now has been...about..5-6..can't remember..i silicon them. Keeps them water tight.

not possible. Once it goes in the OSK or any kit..it stays..because for some reason..it made it there in the first place..thus..stays if that reason should ever arise again..haha

 

Cool, i don't think it'll be to are to get them to fit right side up, just haven't taken the time to do it.
Hmm, i guess i'll see what's under the possible holes when i mount the stuff.

The big holes that aren't used? I know those, i'm running a brace between those then putting the lights on extensions i think.

 

By right side up i also mean how you have em in the pic..just do a bit of triming to make the full lens pop out.

 

Yeah, the only thing keeping the light from being pushed out like that is the bolt sticking out the bottom, ill see what i can do tomorrow or next weekend.

$100/pair speakers
$200 amp to power 4 speakers
$200 amp to power sub
$150 sub (8")
$150 for sound deadening material

That would sound very good.

 

id agree with that but need rear speakers too and thats not taking into account a sub box and all the wiring..but other then that its a good basic system yes.

Like i said. I pack with stuff i know i have needed in the past in X situation..so i always bring it. Haven't run out of room..yet..but when i do..ill build a trailer..haha

for what we do. Over packing is always better..

 

It was just assumed he'd get rear speakers under the "$100/pair" and amp to "power four speakers"

And yeah forgot to factor in for wire/materials/beer.

But I always seem to loan out extra gear to someone along for the ride in our caravan.

But I've really dialed in my cooking gear/needs.

Usually make meals in advance put them in tupperware and therefore only have to heat them up over a fire. Or I just marinate meat in tupperware and cook it over coals. I keep it simple. Less clean up too.
