    I think they are close to finalizing the design. I think those are 12" shocks.

    Well I have a few weeks in-between school in Wyoming and work in Florida so if you ever want some grade "A" teaching hit me up and I can head that way.

    And by "Grade A" I mean certified by US Sailing to teach (I can provide docs if wanted).

    And I wouldn't mind killing those before heading back to Florida. (If you possibly have a couch to crash on)

    hmmm..some interesting options there. Woulda made our job a hell of a lot easier.

    Yea those are probably 12s. Looks like you could set up 10s easy though. Some short body 12s would fit easy looks like too.

    i realized my shock triangulation is going to get another step added to it, ill have to sandblast the axle to get rid of the rust before i can weld tabs to it then repaint it

    just relocate your 9.75s.

    I did mikes 8.5s and i bet he has just as much travel as me if his leafs would let the shocks use all their travel. Has 1-0.75'' down travel of shock left and about .5'' i think till bump give or take. No actual numbers..But with the 8s he has 10-11'' travel numbers with how they are mounted. You could get 12'' travel numbers with the 10s.

    The only thing I see there is the bottom "trays" seem just a bit exposed. I could see coming down on a rock with one and bending or breaking one off. :notsure:

    its possible i guess..

    but not really that different from a lot of shock mounts off the back of axles.

    It looks like 1/4'' knowing jerry or even thicker..ha so i bet it would be fine.

    i just googled estimates to sandblast an axle and its probably gonna be like 50 bucks.

    guess i could always just take the flap dick and knock down the rust wherever i want to weld, but it would be nice to clean up the axle

    I wouldn't do the flap disk. If your gonna do it..might as well do it right.

    the pricey part will be everything else and be a bit time consuming and a lot of down time for ole Slugo :p haha

    very true. between prep, shop time, paint, and reinstall i figure it would be about 4-5 days. i do have the bike, and could probably borrow a car.


    at least it can be done in stages. get leafs ready, then do perches one day, work on shocks another, finishing touches after... at least i haz time

    Yeah, not sure what the long term deal will be with those leafs. They may be fine ATM, but I suspect another season of wheeling my do them in. For now, as long as they continue to hold the weight, I will be happy.

    yes. 63s with triangulated 12" shocks is definitely the plan now. that combo has proven to give great articulation, and its really not that expensive. so thats the plan.

    and thats going to be before moab. im going to do the 35s the weekend of the 8th and 9th. Not many curses at all. will be on a well equipped shop with knowledgeable and fun people. it is going to be a grand ol time.
