question on the cs144 alt. i hate electrical but i need to grasp a few things now because i realize my stock one is just not enough at this point.

1st off im running a single yellow top on a 2.7 motor so i know you wont be able to answer any fit up questions being that you have the 3.4

2nd i think from everything ive read that i need to run a power wire straight to my battery from the alt with a 150A breaker in there and completley bypass the stock fuse box, correct?

3rd im planing on getting a plug to go from the toyota plug to the 4 pin GM plug that way i dont have to clip any wires and if i remember what i read in one of your replies that is the same thing you did and you dont have any issues. correct?

    1) yea  sorry no idea if it'll fit a 3rz man.

    2) Yes. But you will still connect the fuse box to the battery. You don't have to make a new cable though. Its part of the stock battery connection so make sure it stays there. You do need to disconnect the old power wire from the fuse box that goes on the stock alt. I left mine in the loom though so if i need to swap in the stock one i carry for a spare i can very easily.

    3) I made my own quick disconnects. But there are GM to Toyota connectors out there that should work fine yes.

Ok so let me wrap my head around this. Leave the stock wire from the fuse box to the batt and then disconnect the wire that runs from the fuse box to the alt. And then make a new 4 gauge line with a 150a breaker that runs from the alt to the batt.

    Right.

You need to disconnect the wire that runs from the stock alt to the fuse box at the fuse box though too. Tape off both ends and just leave it in place to use with the stock alt if you ever need it.

Im thinking I might do the stage one wire upgrade from bama1997 so I would be taking out the whole harness and putting a new one in. But im gonna try and see if he can modify his wires so it works with the cs144

Yup. And I hate wiring so its really nice for me. I just hope he can modify his harness to work for this that way I dont have to make my own or modify his on my own.

I saw one write up on customtacos.com. but he made a weird top mount for it thats why im trying to see if anyone else has done it on a 3rz. And I dont want one of bamas alts because my truck likes to eat alternators so I need a stock alt that I can buy at the parts store and keep swaping out under warranty.

Either way I always carry a spare with me on the trail and just like to beable to swap it out and keep going. And then stop at the parts store on the way home and tell them I have no clue why it stopped charging or why the bearing went bad.

Because I can buy two of them at the parts store and have a life time warranty on both of them. I short one out while im on the trail and I swap the spare in, and then on the way home I stop at the parts store and swap out the broken one under warranty.

    Ahh gotcha.

Well hopefully they fit. If not. I bet a bracket won't be too hard to fab

The bottom should fit no problem, just might have to fab a too mount from what ive seen, and then I can buy a 5 rib pulley. But first I wanna find a junkyard 144 so I dont waste 120 bones if it doesnt work

I wouldn't change the pully. Not needed. And if it's a different size you'll change the output

If I go to a small diameter ill change the output so it puts out more output at idle. But I found the 5 rib pulley and its diameter, just gotta find the diameter of the stock one that comes on what ever cs 144 I decide to go with.
