Monte, So Imlooking to do my LBJ's to and was talking to an old friend (Toyota tech) whosaid the 1st gen Tundra's used the same LBJ assembly but he thought theball joint itself was a bit stronger after the TSB/Recall (he said initiallythey had the same issues and recall as the Tacoma's did).

I searchedall over and haven’t found anything on this except the Tundra's LBJ recall was about thesame time as the Tacoma’s… :notsure:

He saidworse comes to worse, the Tundra’s are at least the same and tend to sellcheaper on ebay/etc… (but tend to be more expensive at the dealers). Im going to Toyota this week (either tomorrow or Friday) to look atgetting an alignment and plan on comparing the LBJ assemblies and verify this.

I got a pair of Moog with grease fittings (the nice ones, not the cheap version - yes there are two diff quality Moog LBJ's out there) I coated with POR-15. After reading this plan to do OEM I think. PM me if you want them :spy:

Could be tie rod ends. I know 4runnera the hole is smaller. Find out I guess.

Frankenstein is almost done. Just finished welding the bracket back on. If I can get an alignment tomorrow I will be road worthy to finish the trip!

    ZINNNNGGGG

this is where you are wrong. there are ESB kits that also use lower uniballs and their are race kits all over that use lower uniballs.

also on another note. some times the LBJ faliure is not from the actuall ball joint dislocating but most of the time from those 4 bolts that hold the LBJ to the spindle.
that trac performance lower uniball replacement may work good to prevent the actual ball joint to fail. but those bolts will still bite you in your ass.

    just my 2 cents.

Not really. Like hardly any race kits out there and most are for prerunners and they are usually 4.5-6" over. So the market is tiny for them to begin with.

Got me thinking about replacing those lower bolts... I've taken them on and off a few times. Anyone got a good source?

    In the fine print:

So you have to have their spindles to use them, but it looks like their spindles only work with 1" uniball UCA's.
