Ball Joint is a bit bigger.



Mounting bolts def don't match.



Tie rod ends are at a different angle and the Tundra (left) is actually a smaller diameter

Weird how the tie rod hole is smaller. Same goes for 4runners..odd..

I was talking about the spare tire one. I mocked up the airtank to that cross member. it is convenient to strap to but does lower the tank down a bit. Ignore the white zip ties.

 

hell id just try and bolt it to the bottom of the bed..in front of the crossmember. Keep it up 3'' higher and it doesn't weight a lot anyways.

do the mounting feet that are already on it line up with the grooves in the bed?

also..did you get your fire extinguisher?

The legs on the tank add 1.5" the crossmember about 2", not all that different. Plus, the tank would be about 7-8" further towards the rear. Unfortunately, the legs do not line up with the ribbed bed grooves. One leg would be up on top of a groove. I know I would use round head bolts but still be a high point in the bed.

Here are some side and back views. Doesn't seem that bad actually. What do you think?

Not sure yet. Some sort of a metal strap around the cross member and tank might be better than zip ties just not sure how to do that.

 

Plumbers "tape" is what you are thinking of.

I did a search for plumbers tape and all the hits were for teflon thread tape and I'm sure that isn't what you were thinking.

I was thinking something like this but niot sure how to fasten it.

You can get it in several sizes. The key is getting it tight enough.

Same stuff tho. Except the one I posted is $3.25 for 10' of 3/4" straping instead of $13.xx.

Yours might be higher grade metal tho, stainless instead of galvaized. The Home Depot stuff only says 28 gauge.

Any idea how to attach it since nailing isn't going to work.

I was going to suggest getting steel 1x1/8" or wider strap and making 6" "washers" to match the built in the mounts.

But if they don't match with the bed ripples then that's tough.
