On 33's would you regear to 4.56? And 5.29 for 35's? Still not sure if I want full 35s?

    Sweet!!

Yea pretty much haha about 10 minutes later they all went on. Haha guys at the lake we met thought I was crazy.

Just two. One per side just on the other side of the coil buckets.

    Good shot buddy!

Not...not fun. But if you have an engine crane should be much better. I used just a jack and it was a pita. Getting wrenches in there is horrible though. But not impossible.

    What tranny?

I would prob go with 4.88s on 35s if it is going to be street driven. The 3.4 would be singing to the moon on the hwy at 70 with 5.29s

Plus I'm boosted. I've been told I need to regear and told I don't with boost. I'm confused. I have 4.10 stock in my 98 trd I think?

Being boosted it's not as pressing. I can tell you for sure that 35s on 4.10s suck major monkey nuts. May as well consider your truck to be a 4spd because 5th is useless.

First decide if you are going to do 35s. Remember you HAVE to tub the fire wall. Not a fun job. And you'll have to cut the front and rear glass fenders. Tires are a lot more expensive and obviously you have to Regear but you're doing that already so no worries for that part.

Next consider how your use the truck. For more crawling and the need for super low down grunt. Over gear. So 4.88s with 33s or 5.29 with 35.

Not a big crawler get in the rocks guy. 4.56 with 33s and 4.88 with 35. This with be similar to stock. But still a tad more torquy.

I love being over geared. Even for the go fast stuff. The low end torque is great. With boost I can't imagine. Should be awesome.

4.88s are a good choice for lots of torque for 33s and room to grow into 35s.

Id recomend 4.88 for 33s and 5.29 if you know for certain you'll be going to 35s.

Not really. I just did over 1000 miles of highway at or above 70. 70 is fine. Yea it's like above 3k but so what. The 5vz has no problems with it. Reall it keeps me in a great power band so I can pull hills easy an not have to down shift. Which is awesome considered how much I weigh.

I will say going 75 takes a big hit to the mpgs. But that's how all my tacomas have been I've noticed.

The boost will help. But not as much as people think.

Yea you have way more power but it's how the truck uses it. The regear helps take advantage of the power.

I got to witness this first hand with my dads rig. He supercharged it hoping it would stop the truck from down shifting up hills. Didn't help. So he added all the boost mods. Still didn't help. Regeared from 3.73 to 4.56 and DAMN. it was like all the boosting power he added finally could be used. Truck hauls ass now..and that's a double cab long bed fully armored on 34s 2nd gen. And it MOVES.

    Regear.

Jberry runs 33's and does good on most everything. 33s = faster, 35s = heavy and slow, obviously cooler and way better for obstacles. Choices.

Yea Jason is on 4.56/33. That's a good choice too. Slight over gear but basically stock feel. Other than better torque.

    Anthony is on 35s though. 4.88s I believe..don't remember..

Either way. Get gears. They will benefit you more then the boost will.

I remember reading a build where someone put on a S/C and liked the results but was missing something. He said re-gearing really woke his truck up.

Since you get full boost at high as 3k rpms, regearing will help you spool your engine (and turbo) quicker.

I agree. More torque on bottom end as the turbo hits all top end. I don't want to drop more cash on the front clamshell to match. Dammit. And more Dammit. Yeah. I'll prolly settle with 4.56 and 33's......I hate regretting stuff I buy and then I'm like oh man, wish I got 35's you know......
