The Frankenstein Build! LT/Expo/Trail rig..and BS

I agree a more technical trail would be more fun. The forest roads were fun to bomb down but i want to do some climbing over shit!

 

Wait. You guys go on all these awesome expo trips with built rigs and are only on basic forest services roads the whole time?






Just giving you crap, but anyways I have not done Holy Cross but it will happen this year no matter what. I wouldn't run that trail without at least 33s and skids/sliders, and preferably one locker. Keep in mind the stuff I typically run, and that you'd want to make a trip out of, is not as hard as Holy Cross, but way more technical than a basic forest road. And there's plenty of trails you could mix in that would be fairly technical as well.

And I lurk on the Wyoming BS thread. I'm making it there this year.

 

No not always forest roads. This year was a lot of easier roads though. Just how it worked out since it was the WABDR. Was still fun to bomb over them at way too fast haha

I need to look up where it is because I have 3 day weekends all summer so maybe I can run down and just run that one weekend. I'll go with you. I think Justin wants too do it too @Lumpskie

Generally what we do is a great mix of crawling and go fast. I am just the one who usually wants to try the harder more technical stuff. No one seemed up for that this year other then Chris but his rig was stock basically haha really the goal of the trips isn't to do the hardest trails but to just get out and enjoy the outdoors and each others company while away from normal life. And I get that. But still...rubicon!

You should come to lander man. That's one of my favorite areas for fun slightly technical trails. Plus super gorgeous. So keep lurking!

 

Holy Cross is off of Highway 24 between Minturn and Leadville. You could certainly make a weekend out of it. Might be a little out of your way, but you're welcome to crash here in Steamboat as well.

Ha, I would not describe Whipsaw as forest service roads. Definitely more technical than that.

Pretty far. But not impossible. I could make it to southern wyo if I left right from work on Thursday night. Then get to steamboat by Friday afternoon. Sounds like a fun trip. I'm down for it.

You can't post that photo. That was from lander. We didn't do anything remotely at that level this year.

And okay. I'll start looking into trails and a route.

I thought whipsaw was easy. Certainly not the hard trail everyone makes it out to be. Even in the pouring rain we had no issues ever. Save you on that one hill that was pure mud. Me at the spot above till I had a spotter, and that little spot timmy got hung up on for a second. But really..it was pretty chill in terms of technical driving. Still fun. But no pucker factor ever.

Well..I was. Last year was pretty much just forest service roads other than whipsaw. What I meant by let's turn it up a few notches this year...aka..rubi

 

also monte...my truck is being put together with so much other shit from different years and makes and whatnot that i feel like its basicially a frankenstein at this point too. just a haggard mess

Took Frank out today to my dads ham repeater tower. Was fun. My alignment is shit again though. Really need to do cam tab gussests. Did the BHLM for my dad for Christmas. Turned out sweet. Sorry for the not so good photos. Camera is dead.

I've done Holy Cross as a passenger with lotsoftoys and Mark was there too. It was a blast. Well worth it. There are places to camp not to far from the trail head. I don't think you would not be disappointed in taking the time to do it.

 

Yea bobs trip report from last year or two years ago, whenever it was you guys did it, looks awesome. Super cool

Yea was super short though. Not really any wheeling simple dirt road the whole way. Thought there would be more snow. But was only a few slick spots.

Was fun though. Super pretty over there. It's in a odd spot that no one goes that's for sure.

 

So today a bearded fellow in a green 4 door stock 1st gen waved to me... lol so now I'm catching up in here.
