Not sure what bumper you got, but if you received the Relentless bumper you should have gotten some bolts...

Here's the best picture I have. There are a total of 5 bolts that bolt to the frame on each side of the bumper. One directly in from the front, two from underneath, and two from the side.

 

Thanks, looks simple enough, I'm wondering how he threaded the bolt in though since there is no access to behind that frame rail cap. Is it just a piece of all-thread and the nut is already there?

 

Thanks, I have no hardware as I got the bumper used. By the looks of the welds on mine it was originally a DIY kit (and off an 01) and I was just trying to figure out what all I need to buy to mount it up to my 95.

 

Here is what the frame horn looks like prior to cutting and capping for a winch/ plate bumper:

 

Use a grade 8 2.5" stud. Not bolt

 

Yea but a stud goes in. You set the bumper on it and it's easy to install.

 

Yeah but, you always tend to do things the most difficult way possible. Not everyone likes to follow that path.

 

So guys, @Blackdawg and @m3bassman if I cannot find a grade 8 or 10 stud at fastenal is it okay to use a bolt and washer instead?

I am sure a correct thread bolt is ok to use but as Monte mentioned, the stud provides a place to perch the bumper while you are mounting it. Makes things much easier.

 

Okay, that what I was thinking. It may be hard to find a stud on short notice but I can have one ready for the next time it comes off. In the mean time I have a garage with open joists from which I can hang the bumper to get it on the truck the first time.

I should be able to round up some grade 8 bolts no problem and I just remembered I have to find a tap too because one of my bumper mount nuts is chewed up.

 

Yea shouldn't matter really. Just gonna be a total bitch to get too lol But will hold fine.

Hell if you have a welder handy, reinforce the winch plate while its out. Or do that when you get a winch.

That said, not a full white flag. Not yet. But better be ready for one. haha

 

I've told you at least a dozen times what you will have to do to get "your fabricator" to build you a bumper. Yet you insist on doing it your way and end up getting nowhere. I'm beginning to think you like self-inflicted wounds.

 

Here is what mine looked like prior to welding. In this photo, it's line up and ready...

 

Mine says I can use the stock end caps, perhaps when I fit a winch to it I'll weld new ones on. For the time being I think stock should be fine.

 

Honestly, while you have it apart, do the frame horn mod. The OEM front caps are weak which possibly, if you hit your bumper landing from a launch or hitting while exiting a radical decline, you can pull them out, damaging the frame.

 

You are still missing the point. On your current path, you'll never get a bumper built. But whatever, I'm done trying to help.
