haha figured it was a given by now..haha but @aero3685 found out the hard way

So my engine codes are PO300 and PO301.

Engine misfire and cylinder 1 misfire.

Hmm..odd. Never felt like it ran odd or anything..

So it looks like either my plugs are bad(not likely as they are brand new) or wires(also not likely as they are brand new) or a fuel injector.

Also possible i just have an air leak somewhere.

And if all that fails, 02 sensors.

Gotta get Igors new tent mounts fixed first before i start work on Frank again.

Could you have an ignitor going bad??

Hey, long lost friend with a question for you, sir. I'm looking into getting some sort of GPS setup for the Land Cruiser and was curious what your thoughts were on it. Are you running any kind of external antenna? Also, I just bought some Dually D2s... and I was reading in your thread somewhere that they are noisy to the point that they interfere with CBs? Any advice there?

Possible. Fuel injector is more likely though as an ignitor would have thrown a code for two cylinders.

I use a tab 4 samsung tablet with the back country navigator app. Really like it. Easy to swap between trucks too.

As for the rf. I'm surprised. Would have thought the "higher quality" rigid industries lights would ha e good rf shielding.

You can run rf chokes on the wires though. Also run your CB straight to the battery.

Leds and hids generate a lot of rf. Using chokes and properly grounding things is the best way to keep it at bay.

Got my paranoid fab click switch bracket today for the locker switches. Thanks man! @paranoid56 also picked up a wrench for my scepter gas can from him. No more stuck closed lid for me

    Also this happened..

    20170808_172227.jpg

    Damn.

    And this

    20170808_172253.jpg

Not cut. Looks like it got rusty and my driving did the rest. Ha.

Need to redo the gas can holder to fit my scepter can next. Also re thinking the bed rack...again. need it 2.5" taller to fit my military cases to suit my packing setup. Hoping I won't feel the tippiness come back going that tall again and with the heavier rtt. Igor leans fairly hard and the last thing I need is frank to start leaning. So probably going to swap the relentless bed bars over to test it out.

Huh. I've never heard that. But I can believe it. My third time I've broken leafs.

Wish I was in a position to start caging and 4 linking...someday.

It became starkly apparent that you can't have a rig do both the things we like to do well after I dropped the weight off my truck and went on that desert run. Sure an expo heavy rig can go fast but it's not anything like being light and not cringing when hitting something lol. Trade offs I suppose but dang is it gonna be hard to go back. I never realized how heavy I was till it came off.

yeah its really why in a perfect world, id make igor more of the "pig" truck for long trips and mediocore roads and such. I'd love to strip out Frank, slap a LS in it and 4 link him and just have a truck for going fast haha

Even now, the steering feels really heavy on Frank compared to Igor. But man i can drive a LOT fast in Frank than Igor. Big tires and suspension do pay off and help.

Not surprised though in your findings. It would be curious to take more of a backpackers approach to it all. May not be as comfortable, but could pay off in dividends in other ways.

Shit his leafs look Shot as it is..haha

Yeah i'll be curious to see how it pans out for you for the exact reason Marc brought up...weight. And i know you pack the truck full to the brim and do not run light at all. Be interesting to see how the coilovers cope with it all.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check out that Backcountry navigator. So, just to be sure... not external antenna at all? You're just using the Samsung Note 4 antenna?

As for leafs... I can't tell if the leafs broke in the front for both of you... but, I suspect they did. My '96 leafs were way shorter in front than out back which made them bend a lot more when the suspension moved. It makes me think about that discussion we had years ago about negative arch and whether it would shorten the life of leaf springs...

Yep just use the tablets antenna. Use a Droid x for my aprs GPS. You don't really need an external antenna for GPS. I've never found a need for it anyways. Unless your going to bury the device in the truck somewhere. I also don't need pin point accuracy. But it's always within +/- 3m which is good for what I'm doing.

That's a good point. They are very short. My two main leafs are looking pretty bad as well on the front half. Really wish I could go 4 link and not bother with a new leaf pack that I can't swap over to my other truck when I'm done.

So, you're using the Droid for communication only and the Note for mapping? (I don't really know the first thing about APRS)

It would be fun to see you 4 link your truck. I almost got a wild hair to use a 4 runner axle/links on my truck. But, never did it. I have yet to do anything to the suspension on the LC. But I have a good idea of the suspension setup I want to go with.

Yeah the tab 4 is just for nav and the Droid for aprs which is a ham radio feature. My setup is ironed out more actually in Igors build thread.

I remember you talking about the 4runner idea. Pretty interesting idea really and I bet could work. Way I see it though is if you go through all that might was well go custom. And I'd rather have 4 link then 3 link to avoid axle swing. Haha never ending I tell ya...

End of an era. I swapped my nice co2 bottle for a standard one today. Needed hydro tested and didn't want to wait that long. Can't get it filled locally anymore either so I'll be just exchanging from now on.
