Hey good for you, you found a niche and I hope Toyota finds out and makes you the big bucks, it is a sort after item for sure, I only checked this thread a dozen times today hoping you will have them for sale. I would put in for a patten also

It’s finally warmed up outside so I wanted to install mine. Anyone else unable to remove the Phillips screw? Trying to figure out how to remove the fuel door.

Why do you want to remove the fuel door?

I’ve tried two Phillips bits, I’ve had someone apply pressure to the fuel door and I don’t want to strip the screw. Pliers won’t fit. The only thing I can think of is getting to the back of the screw from the side that’s attached to the body.

Just installed mine yesterday, the Phillips screw came out without an issue. Took less than a minute for the install. I can't imagine needing to remove the fuel door.

You don't need to remove the door, just the one phillips screw. Make sure you're using the right sized bit. I want to say #3, but could be wrong. It was pretty tight on mine but I braced the back of the door with my hand and put some force into it.

    There's only one more option:

.......maybe try some penetrating oil though

Yes penetrating oil and then place your Phillips bit on the screws and give it a few taps with a small hammer, it will move the oil faster

Well personally I wish nothing but the best for you. I think you offer quality products that people want. I am amazed at what you decide to tackle in terms of the products you offer- That is talent seeing something out of nothing when looking at a product.

How odd that some screws are in so tight. Mine came off with very moderate pressure. After reading the horror stories, I was prepared for a fight and a stripped screw. Instead it started turning immediately and easily.

    This.

If you have a pesky bolt(no rhyme or reason for any particular model or year) some are easy... while others can be super tight.

Step 1: spray with penetrating oil and let it soak in

Step 2: get an impact driver with a #2 Phillips bit

Step 3: hold the gas door firmly with 1 hand, while using the impact driver(and adequate pressure) with the other hand and remove the bolt.

I added this to my '18 shortly after I got it. I think the longer the screw goes without removing it, the more trouble you'll have with it.
