    Thanks guys.

So wife did notice. :D She came home from grocery shopping and found our six year old painting some rustoleum on the truck. :D

I asked her, what her thoughts were and she said this:

"I can't believe he did that! Thousands, thousands and thousands of dollars for the truck... Can't believe he did that!"

Kind of ironic to me because, as I recall about seven years ago, after the first pin stripe session off road, she only remarked that:

It's a truck...it's supposed to be like that.

Not related to my build, but thought it would nice to share anyhow...

My oldest turned six years old over the weekend. She has been on an ocean animal kick lately, and likes sharks. We read a lot of bedtime books so she knows many things about them now, more than I do. For her b-day I took her to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, CA. (2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla, CA 92037) <--Like that? Expedition way? lol It's about 20 minutes away from home for us.

My kids really enjoyed themselves with all the exhibits.

Most impressive to me was this tank!

    And this plastic!

That 10" thick acrylic is some heavy duty stuff!!! Anybody looking for a glass upgrade? :notsure:

My youngest at the first exhibit she saw with a bunch of sardines in it, asked if we could eat the fish. :hungry:

Mine would say, "you're an idiot". Then I'd have to ask for help with install.

With everything out of the way on the rear end, The shackle hangers are front and center under there.

I took a very good look at my shackle hangers and they appear to be angled slightly.

Like this / on the drivers and like this \ on the pass side.

Over the years I've heard of bent hangers. It's one thing to drag and bend them on a rock, and another to bend them simply from suspension flex.

I put a square on the frame and measured both of them, and they are indeed angled slightly. I don't have a non-wheeled truck to measure off at the moment.

I am thinking this may be normal for the Tacoma.

Awesome. I can't wait to take Bennett to the Monterey aquarium. But it is 3 hours away. Ugh. Have to work it into a coastal trip.

Do the tie downs slide within the L- Track? Or you have to insert directly into locations you want them.

    Thanks.

    ROFL!!! I can imagine.

Lot's of neat oceanic attractions on da coast. :D

They can slide, or you can pluck them out and move them around. Either way works.

She has. Not too often though. Usually when there is no other alternative. And usually very brief. :D She helped when installing some l-track fittings. I had like 9 screws to tighten. She did one and is like, Are we done now?!? What do you mean there is more? I don't want to do this anymore... Okay Good bye!

He'll get quality time out at Point Reyes National Seashore, too. I remember going on field trips out there when I was in 6th grade.

Did you have all 9 screws ready? Did you show her the nine screws is actually one ask and not 9 asks?
When I need my wife's help, I need to prepare everything in advance. Every last detail, so that when she does come in to help, she's in and outta there! No dilly dallying, trying to calculate or measure or re-measure stuff. I only have one chance in that slice of time. If I miss that chance, I can kiss any chance of help for that day.

Why didn't you buy an old POS truck and cut it up?!
Why would you cut up your new truck?!

Umm.... why would you back your car into your mom's car in our driveway?

I won. Except you never really win. :D

Luckily I had the big stuff done before we got married. Now that the damage is done, I guess I'm good to make it "worse".

We'll be getting her a new Tacoma in 4-5 years (I hope Toyota fixes a few bugs by then), and she has already felt the need to tell me that I can't "chop it up", lol. I can't complain thought. At least she's a Toyota Tacoma girl. She has had her current Tacoma for 21 years.
