Changed my jury-rigged limit strap to a better jury-rigged limit strap.
I installed a "real" Axle Strap from Tractor Supply and it worked! I'll actually keep it there until I can figure out how to get my brake line extensions on board.
    Thanks guys for the input.

Done! It's a skeleton of a build thread, but at least I got it started.

    Thank you. Was awesome!

Buy OEM harness for $30, and eBay clone camera, about $80. Already got the part no's. Then mount it somehow. Probably be the next thing I do, as it sucks to loose the backup camera feature. I find it incredibly useful.

    I hadn't. Sounds like a good idea.

Thanks! Ill give it a whirl.

    Welcome!

    Very good!

You can skip the added cost of the harness and extra camera if you scavenge the one out of your tailgate. I'm sure you already know, but there's about 3' of wiring in there if you pull it out which should be enough for you to reroute to the swing out or bumper. Exactly what I did for mine- mounted the camera just above my license plate when I added my tire carrier. I chose to mount the camera to the bumper so that I could have the ability to remove the tire carrier and not have to remount the camera yet again. Obviously the lower angle makes the parking lines in the image distort a bit, but you do the best you can when we change these things.
Just an option to save money, although I'm sure you already considered it oh wise and powerful Crom.

Thanks. That's a really good idea to keep it mounted on the bumper. Maybe I'll do that.

What I originally wanted to do was drill out the "O" in California on my license plate and add the camera behind there to keep it stealthy. My measurements placed it pretty close to in line with the stock location, just at a lower point. Might not work since your tow hitch is behind the plate, but would look cool if you could manage that somehow.

IIRC, there was a company on eBAY that sold front facing camera kits for our truck or other Toyotas where the camera came with a mount to place it inside the "T" on the grill. Pretty neat for someone to think of that. Like this:

On this last trip I got to use the table on the swing-out during camping. I love it! So friggin nice to have an instant table that is separate from tailgate.

I am very pleased with it. Here are some quick photos I snapped just before making some coffee.

How does the FJ camera mount? Is it above the plate or on the spare?

It's not my favorite color. It's functional though and no cost. lol I'm curious if wife will make any comments during our next trip about it.
