I had to think about it, through process of elimination, I eliminated the torque wrench, and the shade tree mechanic operating it.

I turned my attention to the fastener, I did something to it by accident when assembling back in October.

Think about where tension is stored on a threaded fastener when tightened (hint: two places), and then think of anything that could affect that. Maybe I say too much. :drevil:

Tension is stored on the threads and nut/bolt face. What I did in this instance, was I accidentally got grease on the threads of the bolt when assembling. I didn't catch that.

When lubing threads, either with thread locker, or grease, generally speaking torque values should be decreased by 20-25%.

That explains it. I discovered it yesterday.

All the torque tables on the drawings here at Disney have fastener torque listed for dry and lubed. Run with that as you may ;)

I did not know this. I've always been torquing to spec when bare/ thread lock or grease.
    Very good to know.
    Thanks Nick.

What is your opinion on the 5125 (33-230351)? It's kind of middle ground between the 33-230337 and 33-230375. I was just going to go with the 337 but after reading the information in this thread I'm re-thinking things. Just trying to figure all of this out before I order in a couple months.

I would only consider the 33-230375, RCD B110, or the 7100 I previously mentioned for my truck. The other two you listed would limit spring travel, so no bueno.

Thanks. Hmmm, so much to think about again. I'm your opinion (of the 5125 series) the 375's would make most use of the Dakar's travel?

The RCD B110 shock is fine. It does not limit travel. I feel comfortable recommending it.

The 375 model would fit based on my measurements on my truck.

My advice is mount the springs, mount the bumps, cycle the suspension and measure then buy your shocks based on your findings.

You can still drive around with no shocks. :D
