I'm trying to decide if the 6112 and 5160s are worth the cost over the 5100s.

I don't do a whole lot of gnarly stuff. I mainly want clearance for protection. I do think the 5160s woywo be better for washboard roads..... It is a DD too.

    Thoughts?

I have the 6112s and then the extended 5100s (b110) for the rear I really like the 6112 I thing they are a great upgrade. I end up on a lot of gravel and fire roads going camping and having the extra oil capacity in the front definitely helps with keeping the shocks cool. I will be upgrading to a 2.5 shock for the rear soon for the same reason. If you can swing it I would go for it.

I'm sure they are, I'm just trying to decide if it's worth the extra cost for me. I know Crom has had both, just hoping to get some additional thoughts.

Create a thread in the suspension section and ask there. You'll get lots of feedback.

I finally got some belly armor... After all these years!

I have not test fitted yet. I know my trans cross member took a beating last summer. I hope it's not too bad. :D

I have the 6112's and had the 5100's on for 3+ years. I only upgraded to the 6112's because I thought the 5100's had a problem up front when I hit big dips, and I got sold on the 6112 thread. It did go away for a while when I put the 6112's on but now its back, same noise so no problem with the 5100's ( I haven't had a chance to tear down again but I suspect something in the lower mount on my truck). I was happy with them and if your not going on long stretches on rough roads they will work fine for you. In fact I'll sell you mine for a very good price. Front and rear 5100's in good working order. PM me if interested, but if you want new and your on a tight budget they will work. That said the 6112's and 5160's are better for more hardcore off road no question.

Can't comment on the 5160s as I'm still using 5100s in the rear, but 6112s are hands down better than the 5100s even just for every day driving. Having had 5100/eibachs prior to the 6112s in my experience the 6112s are just plain better all around. The damping on them is greatly improved over the 5100s. Where as before I would routinely blow through the stroke on the 5100s just hitting bumps in the road (softened thanks to wheelers superbumps but still) the 6100s damp much better and don't have that issue anymore. Really only have it when driving like a tard offroad. They control the motion of the vehicle much better than 5100s. 5100s are really only designed to be used with stock springs and a stock-ish vehicle. After adding armor, tires, maybe heavier eibach springs they become pretty underdamped.

Pelfreybilt. Their shop is just a few miles down the hill from me. Extremely convenient. I think they make great stuff too. Shop was super clean and organized. :hattip:To Tyler and his Pops Jerry and the rest of the Pelfreybilt family.

Cool. I'll read what you wrote in your thread. I did not know they were redesigning 2nd gen rear swing bumper. I'll keep an eye out. My next move may be an alum front bumper...

I would be concerned about the additional adapter to make the eyelet work. It looks like it would shorten the compression by at least an inch and may be prone to breakage. If that was the shock I wanted to have I would probably just make up a small hoop to mount the shock properly.
