Truck is back together, finally. I finished cleaning and greasing the LCA bushings and new washers went in. The passenger side Cam was slightly bent, I reused it anyway.

For this side, I detached the lower shock bolt and disassembled LCA cams and propped the LCA up on some blocks of wood.. It was much easier/faster considering I didn't have to remove the shock like driver side.

I indexed everything with match marks so when I reassembled, it was near perfect. An hour later had alignment.

Mr. Crom, I'm gearing up to make my own tire carrier for the bumper i just bought... and am having a hard time finding great latch options. Curious if you could save me a ton of searching and share any marking or other identifying info for the latch on your swingout. Looks like some nice aluminum over-center gizmo. Yes?

You are the best - thank you! I was looking at southco and only being shown the Reid products. Gah.. Anyway that helps a ton.

    You're welcome.

I have 2 of these latches just waiting to use - I've been planning my dual swing out for a while not. I need to set aside the time to build it.

Nick, where did you end up getting washers from? Mine need to be replaced for the same reason. Thanks.

@Unchained 5150 check these posts out. This is where he talks about it.

White line sold me a packet of replacement washers for $15 delivered. I tried sourcing them on the market, but no luck.

I took my truck out to desert for light Wheeling with family and truck performed awesome. Glad I did the maintenance. :proposetoast:

    Rabbit & Villager Peaks

I recently took my family on a mini trip to Anza-Borrego Desert SP. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and it was a well deserved break from the daily routine of the fall term. In the picture my two daughters on Clark Lake.

The photo frames two of my favorite desert peaks, Rabbit and Villager. They look perhaps unassuming in the photo-yet they are extraordinary. Rabbit is 6,000' and Villager 5,000' higher than the lake bed. I have spent years hiking and backpacking them. A round trip to Rabbit from the south ridge is a brutal 23.8 miles and 8,015' of elevation gain. Every drop of water must be carried, the human body tested in the extreme. Much blood, sweat, tears have been shed here, boots destroyed, gear failures. Legends forged...

The mountains are sacred to the Kumeyaay band of Indians, who are native to the region. I suppose I've felt similar for as long as I can remember.

It is said that the oldest rocks in the county are located in these mountains. The mountains are the result of a tremendous fault / rupture which results in tilting the earth at 45°. Hiking along the ridge for two days is dramatic to say the least.

This picture is of the reverse, taken 10-years prior.

Standing on Villager Peak, looking West and down at the dry Clark Lake, Coyote Mountain, and San Ysidro Mountains

Words can do no justice to define the experience here.

    Will return.

That's one of the things I love about Death Valley. Standing around Badwater and seeing Telescope peak over 11,000' higher than you.

I can't write like I used to, but last year this month after my joint trip with Andy @CVYota ended in Big Pine. :fistbump: my journey had a second leg. After I filled the tank in Big Pine, and headed south on US-395 I took CA-136->CA-190 back into the park. I traveled to the salt flats and journeyed out far where everyone disappeared. Time well spent. What an amazing time to be alive. Exited the park to the south on 31 miles of glorious dirt. Everyday spent trying to get back. :)

So glad you and the family made it out to a piece of a peace in the desert! Hope one day you get enough time back to be able to write about your adventures more...

This is a dated reply, but another option would be to find a 2nd gen Hole Hawg (Milwaukee) in a pawn shop, or rent one. They have a clutch, or use a first gen but use it in 2nd gear, low speed will spin you like a top if it grabs. Also great for mixing paint, Sheetrock mud, or boring big holes through logs.

You may want to start a thread about it. Posting here isn’t really going to get you a lot of answers since this is someone’s build thread and your question isn’t exactly relevant here.

I see you’re kind of new so welcome aboard also.
