Thanks guys. Words fail. The Amargosa clay is the gift that keeps on giving. It is in my yard, my street, my sidewalk, my neighbors yard, my driveway, my garage, my clothes, my shoes, in my washing machine. I am pretty sure it is in my blood stream because it went into my eyes and lungs. Haha.

I have a combined seven hours cleaning the undercarriage, engine bay, bumpers, frame rails, cross members, body cavities, exhaust manifolds, skids, gas tank. This does not include the 2 hours of pressure washing the exterior and wheel wheels, axles and suspension from three weeks ago. I am convinced the truck may never be the same again. lol

It is baked onto the exhaust manifold and even with 2000 PSI pressure washer with laser attachment, it is difficult if not impossible to remove some bits. Unreal!

I still have some more cleaning to do but I believe that the worst of it may be done. I have a new serp belt to go on, and I may need new bearings for some pullies.

Looks like you had loads of fun Nick, and brought some home. Well Done. Sometimes mothernature can help with that. When it was raining buckets if you drove on the hwy for 20 to 30 minutes at high speed (safe speed) and throw in a few puddles around town it gets most if not all of that out. Call it a driving power wash. Done it several times.

Crom I just completed reading your build. The truck and the detail you put into it are amazing. I hope to have mine setup similar to yours one day. I never realized how beautiful the desert is. Maybe one day I can make it from Georgia to check it out. Please keep sharing your adventures with you and your family.

The 90,000 mile maintenance has begun

My youngest 11 year old helped me swap out the spark plugs on the passenger side and I did the drivers side a week later. All plugs were in fanatic shape.

6 x Chinese made Denso went in, gapped at .43 (no pic)
    20240309_112802_dbba10fbde4e99a4bb770666283c4337f1d10ef2.jpg

New Bando Serpentine Belt model 7PK2120 went in, just like last time.

It took me two more hours of cleaning before I put the belt in. Still mud in some places but the belt and pullies are good. There a oil weep appearing by the AC pully not sure what it is, so I will keep an eye on that.

Old belt / New Belt - about 50K miles

Also, I found several pounds more mud between the cab and transmission which was my favorite. So much fun!

The 90,000 mile maintenance is Complete

    • Brake Fluid Flushed, Valvoline DOT 4 went in
    • Front, Rear Diffs, and Transfer Case oil changed
    • Coolant Replaced
    • Transmission Fluid Flushed
    • Greased U-joints, Ball joints greased / checked, Tie Rods serviced
    • New Serpentine Belt
    • New Spark Plugs
    • Engine Bay cleaned
    Actual Mileage 89,669

    • I found quite a few missing / broken body clips in the front end, so I zip tied some stuff together, or replaced them. My drivers fender flare needs some help
    • I had to hammer the hex key into the OE front diff drain plug and use a breaker bar to open. Too sketchy. I replaced the plug with the Lexus one that has a 14mm forged bolt for future ease of servicing. And since I was ordering, I replaced the fill plug too. Lexus parts below.
    • Reverse bulb was out in passenger tail, which also had several oz of water in it, cleaned up corrosion in socket with acid, greased replacement bulbs, both sides replaced for reverse bulbs and blinkers.
    • Drilled drain relief holes in pass tail light after it would not drain properly after another rain

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
    90341-18060 FILLER PLUG $9.35 1 $9.35
    90341-24016 DRAIN PLUG $9.63 1 $9.63

I am happy with all the maintenance. I may DIY paint the hood to improve appearance. I will also shop replacement suspension later this year.

The Truck drives super smooth and is ready for next adventure.

90,000 miles? I'm at 210,000 in my 2015. (Of course, it would probably be more like 250,000 if I didn't start working from home 2 years ago...)

These trucks are so nice - just do the regular maintenance, and they keep on running.

Lots of suspension choices - I recently modified mine. I wandered around Colorado last September, "testing" the new setup. Worked great. Which reminds me, I need to update my build thread.

I assume life is keeping you busy - it sure is with me. It is most definitely time for the next adventure.

Right on. :) Very cool. WFH can save a lot of $$$. I did some a few years ago, but I am in office most days.

That is neat you got to go to Colorado. I'll be there soon, but taking a plane.

Life is really good, and short, trying to make the most of it.
I enjoy the joy of cooking, and eating nutritious and delicious foods. :broccoli::cookiemonster:.

I also made health and fitness a priority, and WTFO 5 times a week in the gym. It's a great way to live.

:burnrubber:Anytime! You know me, the car maintenance is a form of stress relief.
