I was thinking the same thing........so I drove by the location that is listed. The truck was there, in the driveway.
I was skeptical, too......I have dealt with the "selling cause of deployment" and "it's ready to be shipped from a port in California" bullshit.
Was a local #, too, so that is giving me some hope.

So I have the opportunity to pick up a 2000 single cab Tacoma with 100k miles. It will be my daily driver, should be able to get around 20-22 mpg instead of 14. So is it worth spending the money to buy it or just say fuck it and just drive my truck?

Just because I'm looking into a daily drive as well and I like math. :D

In my test case the extra truck cost $4000 and I drive 60 miles a day.

This does not take into account insurance. But you could possibly neglect to take that cost into account if you can lower your full coverage insurance price for not driving your newer truck everyday and just have liability coverage on your older truck.

In my example you will break even after 980 days.

    Depends...how much$$$$$$$?
Just make sure it's in good condition(frame and shizz).....you know.....all of the problems that we have seen here on the forum.

If you do buy it, change the timing belt and lower ball joints, before too long...

Put it in excel, usually not worth it. Extra maintenance and costs for just a few extra mpg. You'd prob have to drive it 5 years to break even, and hope it doesn't have many issues along the way.

@Jamart5 I'm likely with Red on this one. A 17 year old truck likely has some issues. However, if you want to practice your wrenching, it could be a fun project. I have learned so much since I started working on the Jeep and working with the guys on here.

Do it, save on tearing your truck up and using expensive tires.
East coast gear supply goes 50k warranty and they run nitro. Do the 4.88

I can get the truck for $2,700. I spend $40 a week on gas, so $160 a month. He also has a honda for 2k but with 200k miles..

Basically drive it a little over 2 years and it will pay for itself. This is with your 14 parked and the 00 taco not costing money on any major fixes.

Got a big box in yesterday, thought it was lift parts. Ended up being those ARB Skids I ordered for Katie's 4runner like 3 months ago and forgot about.

Stuck them on yesterday, it was a bit of a pain solo, and it took 3 hours, but now that they are on and I know how to do them it shouldn't take that long again.

Personally, much beefier than stock (mine were all mangled anyways), and I like the silver look of them, but that will soon change :)

It was a Front skid, mid skid and trans skid that all went together, then a transfer case skid, which was substantially beefier than stock.

For $435 shipped and no tax from pelfreybilt, I'd buy again for the 2 and 3 star trails + exploring that we do.

Rock crawling for heavy stuff, no....i'd want something stronger.
