Good, that's what I thought. I don't think it would make a bit of difference.

Radio update, for those who were wanting to buy one of these.

The MXT105 is now on sale and is only $99. It's basically an upgraded MXT100.
    ---------
    The radio:
    https://www.amazon.com/Midland-Cons...1490400290&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=mxt105&psc=1
    ----------
    The mount:
    (1) Buy a magnetic roof mount
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BLCLUW8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    or
    (2) Buy a nmo mount cable and drill a 3/4" hole in the center of your roof (watch for crossbars and sunroofs):
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015RNF91E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    ----------
The antenna it comes with has a magnetic mount and that's all your care about for decent coverage, you can simply just use it and close it in the door jamb. The cable on the new units is very thin. If you've permanently mounting, select your mount above and choose this antenna.
    The antenna:
    http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/midland/midland-mxta11.aspx

    --------

With this setup in both vehicles, Katie and I were able to get 4.1 miles before we couldn't communicate any longer. It wasn't line of sight, so there's tons of room for longer range comms, and there were buildings and trees in the way. For a simplex 5 watt radio, that's pretty dang good.

If you're into radios, the MXT115 and MXT400 are repeater capable, and you'll be able to use the same mounts and antennas for them.

I appreciate your advise and will try the tips you gave me. We were looking to try and take pics tomorrow. If you are free I'd be glad to have you there. If not I understand as it is very short notice.
Man, I hate to see him have to sell it.
I have always been into photography, just never spent the time to learn.

Don't feel bad, I realized that the helicoil kit I ordered had the wrong thread pitch and I can't use it this weekend. I reordered the right one. Won't be here until Monday :pout:
Just for clarification, the 400 is a different mount but the 100, 105 & the 115 all use the same bracket. The 115 is a 15 wt and the 400 is a 40wt. More power more possible distance.
Not sure. Doesn't seem like I'm ever going to get this thing finished :annoyed:

Yep I saw the 400, and I have my setup ready for it, but I don't think there's a GMRS repeater at Barnwell. If there was, then the 115 and 400 would be way better than the 105.

Also, @Overkill07 text me what time you're thinking about pictures. If it's afternoon, say like 4 ish onward, it will be pretty good for light. If it's overcast, then the point is mostly moot since lighting will be good all day.

I will be tied up from 10 - 2, afterwards, I'm likely to be available and would be happy to join up with you guys.

Well with the weather like it is, I'd assume there is nothing to be done today.

@Overkill07 Did you want to try to do something tomorrow with the photos?

@Tacodriver08 I got the rear done, it's 2.75" higher than it was. I'm hoping that will settle and be around 2.25" but who knows....

I bought 2 extra strut mounts (top hats if you will) so I have the struts assembled and ready by Monday evening hopefully.

Anyone available Tuesday or sometime this coming week to do the fronts with me? I'm just driving the ratrod 4Runner currently with a like a 5" rear rake, but I'd like to fix that...

2.75 damn that's pretty high, put some weight in the back to help the springs settle. I should be free Wed.

    Next weekend on the photos.

As for helping with your build, I can swing by any day but it would be after work and if your in Orange I'd say I could get there by 1830. Not sure if that is too late but we should have at least an hour of light left, unless you have a garage in that case I'm jealous :D
