Take the truck unless your concerned about fuel mileage. A bunch of us just made that trip a year ago. I suggest breaking it up into two days though.

Give it a proper once over, fluid check, grease check, brake check, belt check, bolt/nut torque check, etc and should be good to go.

Jack up the front a little and see if there is any play in the front tires that could signal wheel bearings going out.

If you want to, go ahead and change the oil and oil filter before the trip. If you really want to know how the truck is... go here https://www.blackstone-labs.com/, get a free kit, send in a sample of oil before the trip, then when you get back, change the oil again and send another sample to them and then you can see how the engine is doing at 178k miles.

Other than that. Do that and as long as you don't see anything major like it needing new brakes and you are a day from leaving on the trip... drive the truck.

But yea, what @Overkill07 said... be ready to pay for gas, and going off that... get a receipt for every single gas station you stop at just in case you get bad gas somewhere. If you have a credit card, I also pay with a credit card on trips for the extra protection against skimmers and such. I have my card setup to text and email me anytime it is used to make a purchase over $1 on it. Great for keeping track of expenses and making sure what you spend is actually what you are charged.

Brakes, pull off and look at pads
    Hit all the grease points
    Check plugs
Check for play in front hubs
    Check for u joint play

Looks good Brian. I like those Pro Comp wheels. Did you do the special at 4wpart where you buy 3 and get 1 free?

Lift is a lil stiff but rides good. Had to trim a lil more of the fender liner but everything else is good

    Can't sleep. Bored...
Anyone else watch JerryRigEverything on YT before they buy a phone? His new Tacoma looks pretty nice. Icon suspension and wheels. Traded in his '98 Tacoma with 250k miles for it.

I found it on the marketplace earlier in the week and thought it was cool and bought it. Then I found the thread about them and was like damn, I must have snatched something hard to get...
