Going to get the lift next week. With the larger tires, do I look at regearing or having the cpu reflashed to change the shift points since it's an automatic? :notsure:

False. Mathematically 4.10's is as close to stock as you can get if you run true 33's

315/70/17....I think that converts to somewhere around 34.5

You won't need it for 33s. Saves you more money by not getting it. Unless you just want to spend money. Then go for it

    How's your city and highway[/QUOTE]

City I average around 16 and on highway around 18. But I have a standard and I know how to drive it correctly so that helps a lot.

Agree with that ^^^ If you were going to 35's then I would say yes, but with 35's you may as well re-gear to 4.56. I kept my tires at 33 because I don't feel like re-gearing.....for now :D

With 4.10's and smaller than 33's you'll be way over geared

Weight of the tire doesn't effect gearing height does

the amount of weight a heavier set of tires are. Usually weighs about the same as having a grown person in the truck. Not enough change to want to regear.

now, if you have close to 1000 lbs over stick like most of the armored tacomas. Then that will make it more sluggish.

yup. Actually, with a 285/75/16, you would be just a little bit "over geared" with 4.10's by 2 or 3%. Just enough to give a boost in performance.

rotational mass is the hardest for an engine to overcome. Ever extra pound of rotational mass per tire, is equal to 10 pounds of sprung weight.

FWIW, I had 3.55 gears and 31" tires on my Dodge. I went to 32" tires, and 4.10 gears. My MPG was at 12, on average, and it went up to 14 with the re gear.
