The Grand Reunion

Great photos so far! Can't wait to see them on the computer when I get home! And yeah that noise caught me off guard for sure, somehow didn't catch the wheel at all.

The pictures make it look less dramatic than it felt, that spot was pretty tight, the waterfall didn't get any photos and that was the real interesting part for me. I knew I lifted a front tire previously but according to @Blackdawg I was hanging one on the waterfall too, but I couldn't tell from my point. Don't like that.

Pictures always do that, don't they? Always less dramatic than it *looks* too (and I feel like it always feels worse than it looks)!

Pretty amazing what that thing can do with the right driver!

 

Thanks Dan, if you compare it to what our built Tacomas can do it's meh. Especially being able to keep pace over the ground. But for what it is, I was impressed. The low gearing, the solid axles, and the mountain of torque really were impressive. I think the fact it didn't struggle much and did what I asked it to do without dragging the rear much was what surprised me. With that long ass, I still don't understand how I wasn't dragging it everywhere, it doesn't make sense. As I told the guys on the trip I want to keep poking and finding where the edge of the envelope is, but really really don't want to damage it in the process. With exception of a few places I still plan to follow y'all wherever as long as you guys are ok with how slow going I am these days.

joking aside... i dont care about that on this rig, but couldnt help myself. They look great on my computer! Was fun reliving it tonight.

I will say, and i mean this coming from a good place, i do notice a softness with your photos. Do you notice it on your end? is it the file compression perhaps?

 

Yeah, I noticed a missed a few when posting. Oh well, got most of them. I also noticed Monte put on his Igor plate about half way into the trip.

The lenses are definitely showing signs of age and abuse. I noticed the softness in post and all got some sharpening with mixed results. The last step to convert to jpeg may be contributing as well. The thing is, my workflow has not changed so I am thinking it is the lenses.

When we meet up in a month why don't you throw in one of my lens for if you want to determine if it's the lens or the camera. Only if you want of course. I feel guilty saying something but genuinely just want to help you maximize the eye that you have.

 

Great photos Mike! Some cool captures. Got some really nice ones of the pictographs and petroglyphs.


I bet its the sensor. That camera is very long in the tooth. Or a combination of both. I have to say though, the aesthetic of them is kind of cool though. But as we talked about, you're long over due for a hardware and software upgrade haha

But I don't see anything wrong. Still great moments captured.

My shots were with a canon 7D mkii. The glass was almost all with a 24-105 F4 lens. Some shots were with a 100-400 L series glass.
