Here is my problem...free shipping on arb, everyone else is 200-300 more!!! Besides I plan on making my own and this gives me a template to use. I can weld and rivet more metal to them to make beefy or just resell them.

    Will it work: yes.

    Is it cost effective: no.

    Will it be fun: maybe?

You'll spend the difference in pricing on the steel you need. Also, you'll have to re-invent the mounting solution to make it strong enough to handle the bigger hits.

If you're going to make a set yourself anyway, just get a refrigerator box and starting doing some CardboardWorks(TM) modeling, then order some steel.

Also what I make I plan on repeating for some friends who are in need. And should be getting some cash but definitely making it a deal for them.
Sorry sometimes I forget the hole story:frusty:

I also have all the fabrication tools, and press breaks at my disposal. The only thing I may purchase is a big rivet gun, but that's a maybe.

Shoot sorry for :threadjacked: Dave I thought I was on a different thread but this works too. But does this make more sense. I think u guys have all the details now.
But I do agree, would have rather just buy better skids but they want like half the price of them just to ship.
Besides if you guys like them maybe I will make them for you and charge allot less. The way I see it these skids shouldnt cost more than 200$ to make, and that's even using harder metal, not crappy cold roll.

Look up AMS 5504 (slightly better than cold roll but basically the same thing). Then compare to AMS 5596 or 5599 (way stronger, and it doesn't like to rust).

The only downside is more wieght due to a lot of nickle mixed into it.

They probably don’t (at least in material) but it’s a business and profits must be made.

I here that but over priced is 1 thing, charging some one 2-300$ to ship is bullshit. We ship heavy parts at work all over the place and doesn't cost anything close to that.
I know cause my wife does all the shipping at the same company.
I just had a package delivered from Arizona to CT weight was 120 lbs and it was bulky. Shipping was free.

As a matter of fact I didn't get the pelfrey bumper I wanted. Would have paid the price but they wanted 600$ to ship! So I bought a Trail gear intead...free shipping for same size and weight basically. Not that they probably care about loosing sales but they would more than likely make more money off of the whole east coast.

Shipping is shipping, a company doesn’t control that. With that said, go on mobtowns website and look at their shipping. I haven’t checked recently but it’s pretty low IIRC.

And shipping isn’t free. That money comes from somewhere, whether it’s built into the price of a product or whatever.

Easier for Mobtown, harder for any other company.. like RCI. They will have a sale in the fall I believe. Or almost everyone does
