yup...happens naturally all over as part of the life cycle of forests...only gets more attention when it burns down human's shit

thing to worry about more is the increased erosion in the burned areas while the area is trying to regrow

When you go back over the years, watch and see how the forest recovers.

I was at Yellowstone when it burned. I've been back a few time since then and it's amazing to see the transformation. Of course, it still doesn't look the same as before the fires but it's getting there.

Amazing pictures on what looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

    Awesome thread.

I'm heading to Durango in July, and I'm going to try to hit a few forest service trails or whatever it is when I get up there. I've got a stock TRD Offroad, think I'd have trouble on this trail? I've gone through some pretty hairy stuff in it without problems but never trails with big rocks on them.

you will be fine with the TRD OR package...most of the "hard" stuff has easy to "hard" lines on it, just take it slow and watch out for anything near your differential if you still have stock tires (but that goes with every trail)

you should look into taking the truck on some passes down near durango...i took black bear pass down into telluride last summer and that trail is amazing, the only way that i ever want to enter telluride anymore (unless it's snow packed)

Right on. I've got the stock "Rugged Trail" tires and they have been fine for just about everything I've done, but I've heard here that they're really not any good for offroading. They're getting pretty bald and have a lot of mileage on them so I'm probably going to get new tires before I drive up to Colorado. Right now I'm thinking about upgrading to BFG All terrain or maybe even Mud terrain, I just don't want to affect the way my truck handles on the highway since I have to do a LOT of highway driving.

i would recommend changing your rugged fails over before the trip if you can...

i had bfg at's before my duratracs and they held up great...and for alot of highway driving, you'd like the at's over the mt's for sure..and the at's do great off-road too

Awesome. I had ATs on my Jeep for a while and they were fine on the highway. I'll probably head with those over the MTs.

Most sharing sites do not support RAW/NEF or whatever your camera calls it. Just convert them to smaller jpegs, upload them and be done with it.

Which Gulch trail is this again? seems like every other trail is a gulch around here. That first pic is awesome. So are the rest but the first one is perfect.

Gimp is a free image editing tool. It has many of the same features Photoshop does as well.
