They shut off automatically when I bought it, but stopped doing that about a year ago. I assumed it was a latching relay that had gone bad, so I replaced the headlamp relay, but that is obviously not the problem. I don't have the wiring diagram, so I'm groping in the dark until the shop manual arrives.

I'm not familiar with the different headlamp stalks, but could someone have moved yours from the position that auto shuts off? If that's even a possibility. I have that on my Land Cruisers headlamps but not on my poverty Tacoma.

There is no provision for that on the series 1. There must be a latching relay somewhere that is no longer working properly; I jiust don't know where it is. It must be tied into the driver's door switch I assume.

have you switched headlights, specifically halogen to LED?

check the switch located on the front lower driver's door jam to make sure it is working correctly

also as a test there is a "time-out" of about 1 minute of shutting off the truck and pulling the key when it will "click" off (you can use power windows up until this point as well). if it doesn't do that there is a relay that handles this but it's not the headlamp relay per se.

Haven't switched headlamps. I'll check the lower switch. Don't have power windows. Thanx.

It's a 2003 SR5. Thanx for the wiring diagram. It doesn't have daytime running lights. I suspect the driver's door switch may be faulty because the dome light doesn't work with the driver's door open. It works with the passenger door switch though.

The wire to the switch had corroded enough to break in the connector. Problem fixed. Thanx for the help.
