I was angry for years that they weren’t available in the USA. Had a 2006 and a 2011 when living in mx. recently drove a 2022 and think the Tacoma is a better built truck. The older ones I had were light, thin bedsides and doors, much like the late 80’s Toyotas we had here but you couldn’t kill the 2.7l engines. The new ones seem flimsy and cheap.
The Central American market ranger is something I would consider if available here. 2.5 Mazda non turbo with a manual transmission, rubber flooring, etc. simple old school like.

Hilux comes in many flavors that we don’t have in the U.S.A. and Canada.

Besides the engine D-4D, the truck looks minivanish. Took a pic of this one in Iceland

Have driven several late models for a while. Smaller interior, lower tech, tougher bones than a tacoma.

2TR-FE is common as the gas model overseas. Have never seen a 2GR-FKS outside the US.
