The hood won’t pop up after pulling on the hood release in the cab. I have tried trying to get my fingers in to push it up. I have tried pressing down on the hood. The hood release is just free now.
It’s a catch 22 the battery is dead but I can’t get the hood up to jump start it.
This happened last winter I thought it was because the mechanism was frozen. It is not that cold today.

I would have someone pull the inside lever and have another person push down on the hood at the same time.

Once its open, check the adjustable rubber stops on each side. If they can be adjusted up, that will put more tension on the hood and get it to pop up better

my relative has had this problem as well on a 2o11
whenever you get it unstuck use some NutZ lube all over that, let it soak in and creep, should take care of the issue for awhile, year or two maybe
unless something else is wonky under there

I’ve learned banging on a hood works sometimes. I had a Nissan Frontier that had this problem, had to hit the hood a few times and it would open.

Even if it doesnt pop up you can open it if you have pulled the inside lever. You just have to make it pop yourself, wedge your finger inbetween the grill n hood and pop it up the half inch, then push the front hood latch and lift the hood.

Pull the latch lever inside then at the same time pull down on the cable.

If the hood release handle is loose and floppy the cable if broken or has come loose from the mechanism either at the hood end or the cab end.
